08/12/2012 5:42 pmWe went on Friday evening for one last meal before the restaurant closes in 7 days. The meal was great as always, but, found one thing to be very odd. Charlie was not at the restaurant. You would think that with the restaurant closing in 7 days, and all 3 dining rooms filled to capacity for 2 seatings Mr. Trotter could have stopped by to thank his final patrons eating the high priced food and wine during his final week in the business? Maybe his attitude towards the business is one of the reasons he is closing the doors? I also found it odd that I didn't get a call from the restaurant on Thursday to confirm my reservation or ask about any dietary restrictions. Both Moto and Alinea always call the day before the reservation. If we got that call, we would have requested the Kitchen menu for our party instead of the Grand and Vegetable menu. The wine pairing was great as was the beverage pairing. The front of the house service was a bit lacking. I had to ask to have water refilled 3 times during the meal. For $405 a person, the wait staff should have the water glasses filled throughout the entire meal. All and all, we had a great time, but the lack of attention to detail by the restaurant and the ambivalence displayed by Mr. Trotter to his final patrons is probably the reason his run stops at 25 years. I would expect he will re-open his restaurant in a few years. The front of the house staff confided that Mr. Trotter has not made any effort to sell his wine collection or dining service plates, etc. Good luck to Mr. Trotter for the future. |

06/07/2012 8:54 pmFine cuisine at it's finest. Never had a meal quite like it. Went for my birthday, and because it's closing in August and despite the high price I needed to try it. Each course was delicately prepared and the flavors of the various ingredients came together like music. Service was attentive after a short wait for our reservation (we were treated to champagne while we waited.) Decor was nice though slightly dated. Highly recommended. |

04/19/2007 12:00 ami was disappointed with my last experience with trotters. the food looked amazing. unfortunately, the flavors did not match the appearance. when i asked the server for a vegetarian tasting i was told that was not an option that night. her i am a vegetarian spending $200 to eat meat. not a good time. the server never left the table. just hovering like a new grandmother. table was never allowed to openly talk because of this.every course the wait staff set fish knives and forks. we only had 2 courses with fish. come on, i would expect for this money to get the right silverware. |
