Incredible cooking with real Mexican character elevates this colorful Alamo Heights sibling of El Marisol a few steps above its rivals; also home to super margaritas, it can be boisterous, so the sprawling covered patio is definitely a plus.

This was one of my favorite resturants until lately. I use to go at least twice a month, but the last several visits have been very off-putting. The place seems to be getting dirtier every time I go. The last time I went, I saw a kitchen employee and waiter walk in to the resturant to start their shift. I needed to use the restroom a few minutes later and went into them in the restroom. The kitchen employee was in the stall on the toilet and the waiter was tucking has shirt into his pants after standing at the urinal. I was there just long enough (because I washed my hands) to see the waiter walk out without washing his hands and the kitchen employee flush and straighten his hair in the mirror behind me. After that, he didn't wash his hands. I followed him out and watched him walk into the kitchen. This ruined the resturant for me.

The service has been going downhill as well. The past couple times we went, it takes forever for the waiter to get drinks and come back to get the order. It seems like they are stretched too thin.

The food is amazing, and drinks are good too. If there isn't a big shift in management's expectations for the staff and cleanliness of resturant, I could see this place continue to decline.

Terrible hostess jumps people depending on appearance and they can't come to a conclusion if they want people waiting outside or coming inside. It takes 20 mins to set a table for 13 as if that situation was like siting an atom. Food was ok and way over priced for the location, rather go to taquería than this place

If I could rate negative stars I would. I was beyond excited to go here, I had been talking about it for a week. I read some amazing reviews and ignored the bad reviews. Now, keep in mind, I spent five years in the food industry and my fiance did two. So when we went, its natural we expected a certain level of customer service. Did we get it? Hell no! Our waiter, Raul, did not even stick around long enough to ask us what we wanted to drink. He tried to walk away so I had to ask about the drinks. About fifteen minutes later, he comes back and stands there! He doesn't ask us about the menu, he doesn't ask us what we want. So we order. It took almost forty minutes to get our food. My fiance wanted to leave at this point but I wanted to stay and try the food. Maybe the food would be worth it. I get a ribeye and asked for medium rare. I got medium well. I wanted to say something but my fiance told me to just leave it alone. Also, this entire time Raul, our waiter, does not come up to us and talk to us. No. He wants to joke with the three other tables around us and provide them with better service. So we eat. When he takes our finished plates and tells us our balance is taken care of he hovers as we stand up. So we have no cash on us and despite the terrible, terrible service my fiance wants to still tip him. We have no cash on us. In the car we have a few dollars. So as we walk out Raul CHASES us down and asks us about a tip. Who chases people down? This is where my fiance gets mad. He doesn't get mad easily. I had already mentioned writing a review and he said no but after this he was on board. This was the worst service I have ever experience in my life. This is terrible! I will NEVER go here again and I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone, EVER!

Definitely try the Chispas (or two) then call yourself an Uber! Those things are strong.

Ate here this afternoon taking my wife out for lunch. This is the best Mexican food I have had in San Antonio so far already trying Rosarios, Paloma Blanca and several other supposed great restaurants. Excellent service, good atmosphere, great margaritas and my wife loved her mojito. I like the fact that everything had a unique flavor and was definitely fresh tasting food. This compares to some of the best places we ate at vacationing in Mexico.
