"12th Scare!" is the reaction from people when I ask them to meet me and my friends out at 12th Air Command. Sure, I know it to have been not the best place for a while, but they've done an amazing job of upping their class, and trying to enhance the experience.

I frequent the bar on Wednesday evenings for a game of "Air Pop". It's free to play, and when you walk in, the doorman will give you a ticket. Every 15 minutes or so, ticket #s are called, and if yours is, you get to pop a balloon and win a prize. Prized range anywhere from Porn DVDs to Free Drinks and everything in between.

The bartenders are fabulous, and make a special point to introduce you to the people around you to make you feel welcome. You could easily go in there alone and leave with 5-10 new friends.

There are 3 floors to this place, and each one delivers something different. The first floor has 2 rooms, and 2 bars. One of the rooms is mostly used for Karaoke, and the other is the "Everyday Bar" that's always open. On the second floor, you get 2 additional bars, one of which is on the dance floor. The third floor houses the "Sky Lounge" that has a wonderful view of Center City.

It takes a very special bar to make everyone feel welcome, and 12th Air Command does a great job of that. They're working very hard at overcoming a poor reputation, and it's the one place that I'm content with going any night of the week for a good time!
