Let's face it. The three stars are for the waiter, who did a great job! Kudos to him for being attentive, prompt and friendly. The food was nothing out of the ordinary and absolutely overpriced!! The cocktails were good, but nothing special. The okra appetizer was fried way too long and dripping with grease. The steak had pretty much no flavor, the veggies had something crunchy in them, which I am not sure if I want to know what it was and the dessert beignets weren't any better than Olive Garden's Zeppole.

GOSPEL BRUNCH REVIEW:
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I love randomly finding awesome restaurants.
I was walking around Japantown one Sunday, trying to figure out where to eat for brunch. Then I saw 1300 on Fillmore across the street and spontaneously decided to check out the place. As soon as I entered, I got super excited because 1) the place is well decorated (I really like the lounge with all the pictures!!), 2) super talented musicians were singing and playing gospel songs (I was so entranced; I didn't start eating until they finished), and 3) there was a table open right in front of the music. Service, atmosphere, decor, and just everything seemed so great that I doubted that the food could be just as amazing. Fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised by the yummmmmy food (I ordered the eggs benedict and my friend got the rib eye burger)... THIS PLACE IS PERFECT; THEY GOT EVERYTHING RIGHT. I'm coming back for the gospel brunch for sure, and I want to try dinner here tooooo.

We came here on a Sunday afternoon for the gospel brunch. We were celebrating my friend's birthday and had reservations for a group of about 15 people. We started off with the bottomless mimosas. The staff does an excellent job of making sure that your glass is always full. I cannot rave enough about the service. I found the wait staff to be so friendly and on top of it. What made the experience even better was the live music. The live band sang old soul and Motown music. They did a great job of engaging the crowd and even had some people at our table sing on the microphone. The whole experience was really fun and I can't wait to go back.

Brunch food is disappointing. Music is fantastic!

The Benedict was bitter and tangy but not in a good way and the biscuits and gravy were pretty bland in general.

But the band was soulful and fun.

This restaurant is located right next to Yoshi's. The decor in this place is so fancy! I came here with my boyfriend and his college honor society. While the service was a little spotty, I think serving 100+ college students isn't any server's idea of a good time and can forgive them for that. The food itself was really good, although I prefer the savory to the sweet which is a surprise since I normally have a sweet tooth.

Known for its "legendary" Sunday gospel brunch, this sophisticated Western Addition Southerner lures a jazzy crowd with authentic, nicely presented soul food and a "cool" bar scene; though there's bonus live jazz every Friday night, it's also a nice dinner option before heading to a show at one of the nearby Fillmore Street music clubs.
