06/12/2011 4:46 amWent there after the Gay Pride parade with some friends to get a bite. Of course, the place was busy, we understood that. But we sat down at 8:00 and by 9:30 all we'd been given was water. People who arrived AFTER us were being served, finishing up, and getting ready to leave! For some reason our table, and our table alone, was singled out for poor service. One of my group got up to complain to the waiter, who then proceeded to cancel our orders and basically told us to leave! We were shocked at how rude and dismissive the waiter was, and we never even got our drink orders. He acted like he didn't want to be bothered with us. I've been there before and found the food to be merely acceptable but on less busy nights is an OK place to grab a drink (which is why I didn't give it a one-star review). But I will never, ever go there to eat again. The service is simply abominable. |

I really felt uncomfortable being alone there when I noticed that people there looked`very strangely gay! so i ate the food and ran out quickly. damn. there should be sign or something that tell people this is not gay bar. damn. It was late and I did not know find any restaurant open. I am not too familiar with DC yet |

09/16/2009 8:49 pm1409 Playbill is a neighborhood bar and restaurant that caters to locals in addition to the theatre crowd on 14th Street. Recently the menu was revised with several great addtions while keeping the popular and tasty menu selections. I have had several meals at Playbill over the last year, 2008 to 2009 and found the menu items to be fresh and delicious. Playbill offers some interesting and creative selections. I have tried the seafood, pasta, red meat, and chicken entrees and all have been very good. Playbill also has a good selection of vegetarian appetizers and entrees. I have had only one bad meal out of many in the last two years. I ordered the barbecue beef sandwich about two and half years ago and it wasn't very good. Other than that I have enjoyed all of my meals and appetizers at Playbill. |
