I had an absolutely terrific night here last Wednesday!
The quick notes:
-Smoker friendly, so if you're not down with second hand smoke this isn't the place for you.
-Close to Old City Philly Hostel (

If the guy with glasses that seems like a burn out is behind the bar I advise using cash. I was in with a friend we each ordered a yuengling and a shot. Bill should have been around 20 bucks. We werent even there a half hour it was our final stop as I was in town visiting. The bar tender made a mistake and I brought it to his attention while there. After being fed some crap that he couldnt generate a new receipt with the proper amount, I was assured I wouldn't be charged the $93.24 bill I was given. Well low and behold i check my statement today to see a purchase for $93.24 guess those were the most expensive beers I've ever had. F$%k this place that only has popularity because of a television show and cant hire competent bar tenders. At least you made my decision of relocating to Philly easier; I'm not.

A pretty solid bar. It isn't very large so hopefully you get a seat at the bar when you go. Definitely a nice place to stop by for a few drinks. If you're looking for a nice dive bar than this is your place. If you feel like going to a bigger bar than this isn't. The bartenders are nice and the people who visit it are interesting characters.

Drink glasses are dirty, smells like smoke inside. Expensive prices. Really rundown.

It is irritating to see the Internet a voice to people who have PROBABLY NEVER been to this bar. Yes, we get it, Paddy's in Philadelphia. Quit effing up the review system. Or better yet, write a review for Cheers in Boston.

Truthfully this bar is a dumpy smokers haven. If you get stuck with your pretentious friends in Old City it may not be a bad choice for a place to slip off to for a beer and a shot. Otherwise expect a rundown smoky dive bar. It is what it is.
