The closest you'll get to Philly that doesn't involve a Chinatown bus, these Greenwich Village–East Midtown cheesesteak palaces proffer a marquee sandwich that's a solid, satisfying, gooey mess; late-night availability trumps grungy looks and minimal seating, but aesthetes advise get it to go.

I absolutely love 99 Miles to Philly, greasy packaging and all. There's simply no other place in NYC that serves Philly cheesesteaks they were supposed to be served, greasy, heavy and DELICIOUS.

Coming in on a Saturday evening, I was surprised to see how that it was rather vacant. I quickly went to the cashier to look at the menu and ordered the combo (Cheese Steak, Waffle Fries, Soda Can) for $12.50 and it is certainly a fast food joint more than it is dine in restaurant.

The waffles fries were crispy and slightly burned though not soggy but the cheese steak (Whiz Only) was on the bland side and not very juicy. I could recommend this place as a steak sandwich fast-food restaurant with fast service but it certainly is not anywhere near what would constitute Philly cheese steak as the roll used was not of the Philly style consistency and also the new trend in Philly is in a different cut of steak.

Had the restaurant not used the word Philly nor if they claimed to be making a Philly style steaks then I would have certainly gave at least 3 stars

Good thing these guys are still here. Only cheesesteak sandwich even close is in Key West off Duval St. Not in Philly. Key West is hell of a long drive. 99 Miles does it right.

I want to give this place a higher rating, but due to one hilariously bad experience, I'm giving it a 3/5.

NORMALLY, 99 Miles to Philly offers great eat-in and delivery Philly cheese steaks. The usual fare -- legit bread, decent meat, and all the usual toppings. For some reason they are never cut into two parts, but that's negligible. Delivery times are 30-50 minutes generally. Eating in is fine -- looks just like a regular cheese steak place in Philly. Relatively little fare. The guys who run the place seem like they really do care about your business, and the wait is never bad.

HOWEVER... I once ordered off Seamless, only to have 99 Miles to Philly deliver to the incorrect address (not completely their fault -- my address was locked into another location in Seamless, but I had noted in the delivery notes the change-of-address. They did not see this.) After waiting 90 minutes, I attempted to call over and over, only to find out they simply don't pick up the phone with the phone number listed. I called Seamless, and they called the manager, only to have them attempt to deliver it to the address I wanted it delivered two hours prior -- I was not there anymore. So I literally got up from my apartment and walked to the restaurant, explained everything, and got a free cheese steak. Total time from order to consumption: 3 hours.

To be fair, they were apologetic. But try apologizing to my INSATIABLE HUNGER.

Perfect when you need to fast food that is better than typical "fast-food chains" and want to be full. Yes, it is fried food. Philly-cheese steaks usually are, but you can opt for chicken and long list of other options like onions and cheese type.
Their $11 combo + drink will fill you assuming you can finish the whole thing.
BONUS: Not many places in NYC serve Waffle-fries. They do! ENJOY!
