01/15/2016 2:12 amSimple, no frills seafood, cooked well. We ate the fried flounder which was very lightly breaded and a quick fry. Also ate the steamed brocoli served with Hollandaise sauce. The restaurant is clean, you can see into the kitchen which is also clean, friendly staff, low key atmosphere. This was our 1st visit but we will come back again. |

09/02/2015 10:40 pmWe just left Surf Rider West on Newtown Rd. Something has totally changed, because we've been going there for years and tonight's dinner was flavorless. We ordered the broiled flounder and the broccoli; the flounder had absolutely no flavor and seemed totally without being broiled...more like steamed with no browning or butter and the broccoli was overcooked, I asked if there had been any recent changes in the kitchen staff, and was told no, but something has rendered this great place less-than-mediocre. We will definitely never be back. If the management cares, they'll take heed and do something to fix the problem. |

07/08/2015 4:26 pmHaven't been there in 4 or 5 years. My daughter and I went there for her birthday. What a disappointment. Used to have the best crabcakes in town with large lumps of crab nicely broiled. Used to have to wait outside in order to get a table. Should have known when there was barely anybody there. My daughter ordered the scallops and crabcake and I ordered clams and crabcake. Both of us received kinda mushy crab formed into a patty-no filler though and no shells. Scallops looked like they were sliced lengthwise in thirds for a total of 6 scallops(really only about 3) about 1/4 thick. Clams were large but chewy. Looked better than they tasted. Hushpuppies were tiny, lukewarm and dry-used to be huge and sweet. We opted to forgo the sides in order to have broccoli that was half yellow and limp. Mine was much larger than my daughter's, though neither one of us ate much of it. At $24/plate, my daughter's would barely feed a child. Still hungry afterwards so we went and got ice cream. Never again. |
