This is the first time I went to a Polish/Hungarian restaurant, and I can say for sure that they have absolutely amazing food. The marinated herring was extremely good, and so was the beef/mushroom soup, the spicy pork goulash, and the red borscht soup. I also had a dessert whose name escapes me that was also very good. The very pretty young waitress serving the food just made the experience all the better. I will definitely come again next week. And the week after that. And the next. Guaranteed.

Fantastic little cafe in the heart of historic Glendale. Wonderful husband/wife owned place that serves amazing authentic polish quisine. Highly recommended!

I have always enjoyed Polish food. I grew up eating potato pancakes and blintzes for breakfast and stuffed cabbage & peppers, goulash and all the rest fro lunch and dinner. Also growing up in the Chicago area, I often had access to great Polish deli's and stores.
I was very exited to find the "A Touch of European Cafe" so close to my newer home here in Glendale. So to the review...

The service was friendly and had a real homey feel - nice people.
The food was 'pretty good' not quite the same as that which I was used to from all the Polish delis I grew up eating from - in particular, I am used to a coarsely ground sausage, where the one made and served here was VERY finely ground and a Very mild in flavor. So not really my favorite.
Price - Well here I have to say was my main dissatisfaction factor with the Cafe. It was simply too expensive. The combination platter I had was $17.50 and to me was worth maybe $12.50 to $14. And then everything else from a cup of soup to desert and even the apple cider were $3.50 all (especial the cider) were over priced by at least $1 (it adds up). I am always open to trying a new restaurant and will pay prices that may be too high once to just see for myself. But as in this case, where I feel the overall cost of the meal of $30 (for one person) was over priced by about $9.00 almost a 1/3 (should have been around $21 not $30) I would think twice about returning based on price..

The bottom line, I may go back the people were nice the food was OK but, I am going to keep looking for a more reasonably priced Polish food place..
