03/30/2016 4:15 amGet in touch with your inner carnivore by carving into tender and flavorful Flintstone-sized cuts at this classic Back Bay steakhouse, a long-standing workhorse of beef and brown liquor; the on-point service and clubby, comfortable environs speak of old money, and you'll need plenty to meet the high-end prices, which are ultimately so worth it. |

08/16/2015 6:31 pmOn a recent visit to Boston this summer, I had brunch at Abe and Louie's ... Wait staff was responsive and attentive. 04/22/2015 9:42 pmThe reviews seem all over the map, but really, this is a second (or third rate) steak joint, no better than Applebees (yikes) with premium prices ($53 just for the meat). My ribeye was an inferior piece of meat; lots of gristle and tough seasoned with salt. And why to they brag about it being corn fed. Clearly not the choice of any beef lover. The waiter upsold me from a Delmonico to the ribeye because "the bone adds flavor." The little piece of bone added nothing. And who needs a 24 oz. piece of meat anyway? Drinks were fine; wine list was ridiculous. Three times too expensive for mediocre wine. Clams Casino were a lazy man's version. Slap a piece of bacon on top of a little neck. I have eaten here before and was looking forward to this dinner with an old friend. Never again. When I stated a slight disappointment to the waiter, he just got defensive and brushed us off. With so many wonderful places to eat; don't waste your time on this one. |
