Absinthe Restaurant Lounge, Houston, Texas Restaurant Details

I really enjoyed this bar. The absinthe drinks are way too expensive ($15 each), but what you pay for is the chill, quiet, intimate atmosphere compared to most other bars you'll encounter in Houston. This place is dark. I'm talking dark like it's lit by candlelight. It's a place you'll either bring your significant other or a few close friends to experience.

The drinks are delicious, the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is dark and unique. It's one of my favorite bars in town!

This is a great little neighborhood bar. It's hidden, so it can be hard to find. It's very dark on the inside, they have great rock music playing, and very friendly bar tenders. They're very knowledgeable about absinthe and any other drink you may be interested in.

I'm not going to, but only because there were other things to like.

An unadorned wooden door opens into a dim space with couches, tables, and a long bar. It's got a dark, almost gothic first impression. Cue the scene from Underworld with vampires lounging in baroque decadence. Only... it wasn't that pretentious, at all. Instead, it was quiet conversations, and a friendly bartender.

Speaking of bartender... let's go back to that drink I mentioned. After ordering a Manhattan, the bartender asked me if I had a preference... not for the quality of the whisky, but a variation on the traditional. Points for that. I ordered a Perfect Manhattan... which was *perfect*. Seriously. It was made with the precision and care I would take myself, rather than a typical bar dash-and-shake.

I'm quite taken with this place. Intimate setting, and a perfect Perfect.

Without a doubt the worst service I have ever received. I was there with a group of friends a couple of nights ago and we were charged for a drink that none of us ordered. This really shouldn't have been a big deal, but when we explained that we hadn't ordered it and didn't want to pay for a $15 drink we didn't receive she literally lectured us about how we were being "incredibly rude for questioning her" and "perhaps this wasn't the bar for us". I will never go back and will discourage anyone else from going there as well.
