Abu-rasheed Lebanese Restaurant, Portland, Oregon, Middle Eastern Restaurant Details

Food:

We've had middle eastern food at many places (including the middle east) and Abu Rasheed is among the best. My wife and I had dinner there last week before heading over to the 5th Avenue Cinema for a FilmFest. In short, it was an excellent experience! I had the Chicken Shawarma plate and she had the Fatayer Combo Plate which had one meat pie and one spinach pie. Both were great but we decided that the pies beat out the chicken for best dinner. All the associated side dishes (hummus, tabbouleh, etc.) were also very good. Service was also superb. Our waiter was the son of the owner and had made some of the side dishes while his mother made the main courses. Very attentive but not over the top.

The atmosphere was pleasant and the music fun. There weren't a whole lot of people in the restaurant, yet it took a while for the food to be brought out.

This is an inauthentic but decently priced Lebanese restaurant. The mezze included something I've never seen in Lebanese mezze, a plate with what appeared to be queso fresco drizzled in olive oil. I imagine it was supposed to be feta, but it was either so cheap (or the wrong cheese) that its flavor was not there. Other minor complaints about the dishes, food quality was so-so, and not the way my Lebanese family would do it.

The service was very friendly, but we experienced some very long waits including when we first came in and were seated. It was mid-afternoon, so there wasn't much staff, but if the waiter had come out more frequently to check on things it would have been more professional.

Fortunately, other options exist in Portland for more authentic and quality Lebanese food.

Its very rare you see a restaurant rated with all excellent reviews, typical when people feel compelled to write a review its because they are dissatisfied!

The hummus was fantastic. Great food at a reasonable price.

This place is a great deal! I went here with my two roommates and a dad this evening and the food was superb! Service was great--they even gave us a free Baklava on the house and a Lebanese coffee which was nothing like any coffee I'd ever tried before and was absolutely delicious!

Our salads were fresh, lentil soup was great, falafel was cooked just right, hummus tasted wonderful, pita bread was plentiful and fresh out of the oven. The waiters were super friendly and the cook even came out a few times to say hi.

Overall, I would very highly recommend this place!
