04/20/2015 4:12 pmThe real deal in East Midtown, this classic izakaya transports you to Japan with a top-notch, sushi-free lineup featuring grilled robata bites and housemade tofu; since course after course can do some damage to your wallet, bargain-hunters opt for lunch. |

03/13/2015 1:20 pmI was there with my friend recently. The food is very good but nothing really outstanding. Portions are tiny. Way too overpriced. The ambiance and service are also nice. There are couple of Japanese restaurants in that area (I will not name them, but one can easily google) where you can try same authentic Japanese food without paying 100-120$ per person for dinner. |

09/29/2014 5:37 pmDark and intimate feeling little Japanese Izakaya serving up really tasty fish dishes and unexpected snacks. Even the midtown location isn't enough to keep me away. Nice and well priced lunch bento boxes. |

05/13/2014 6:45 pmI did not like the way they take the reservation. Even if I call well in advance for more than 2 weeks ahead, they gave me a stereo type answer to choose starting from 6:30PM to 8:30PM or after 8PM and very hesitant to take 7PM reservation. Eventually after waited for hold call, they took 7PM reservation by limiting to 2 hours. I also had an experience that I was forced to go out after 2 hours even if we are in the middle of eating and there were plenty of seats available. I know they are very popular and well rated and trying to make more money by placing 2 or 3 rounds of customer tables a night but it is lack of mentality of Japanese "Omotenashi" Spilits (which means welcoming hospitality) and I would not rate high as true Japanese. |

03/12/2014 12:57 amExcellent and friendly service. Visiting NYC for the second time ever and couldn't have found a better place to enjoy a new experience. I recommend sitting at the counter in the back, to get a good view of the kitchen as well as being surrounded by the hectic rush between back and front of house... Makes for an exciting evening. Sake selection is immense and the grilled pork belly was wonderful. |

12/22/2013 11:39 pmHighlight of the our omakase was the house made warm tofu. Also great were the sashimi and the scallops sizzling on rock salt. Lowlight was the giant, over-cooked prawn. Next time we'll order off the menu. |
