"Something different" for Carnegie Hill, this "with-it" wine bar matches "interesting" American nibbles (who knew foie gras fluffernutter was the "ultimate snack"?) with an "eclectic" list of wines; the "communal" space exhibits "lots of energy" and even a touch of "downtown" "swagger."

The food at ABV is excellent and my wife and I used to be regulars for brunch nearly every weekend, often getting our food to go as we only live a block away, but unfortunately they recently stopped doing takeout orders entirely. After asking to see if they would make an exception for us since we used to frequent the restaurant so much and have a newborn baby girl that makes it very difficult to dine out, the girl that answered the phones was very dismissive of my request. Since we are such fans of the place, I went in person to ask the chefs, who would have recognized me, but I was curtly refused to even speak with them by another staff member, despite the restaurant being relatively empty at the time.

I know that the restaurant has the choice whether or not to do takeout orders, and it is disappointing that they changed their policy, but I do not think it is very professional of the wait staff to be short with customers who were very loyal and appreciative of their food and service for multiple years. We hope that they will eventually change their takeout policy and the attitude of the servers as we were great fans of the cooking and it seems counterproductive to turn down additional business, especially when the restaurant is not at capacity.

Open for late night dining. Delicious fried chicken and good beer selection

We went here to try the breakfast tostadas after they were written up in a list of best egg dishes, and we were not disappointed. Worth the trip without a doubt. If you like eggplant, the choron sauce on the fried eggplant will make you want to lick the plate.

I used to love this place; the staff is incredibly nice, attentive, and sexy. They have a decent selection of booze, if a little bit pricey, and their food is top notch.

I dropped my rating from 4 stars to 2 stars because of their ridiculous new architecture. I'm not sure what they were thinking--without resorting to name-calling, it looks as if they hired a three year old who wanted his dining room to be up in a castle behind a wall.

The second you walk in, you are confronted by a huge wall. The bar, which is obviously the main attraction (I was there tonight; about 4 people were in the "dining jail" up top, about maybe 15 people at the bar), has been relegated to a scrunched alleyway. The people dining are now secluded upstairs behind a six-foot wall.

The layout makes zero sense. The waitressing staff can't see how the diners are doing, or whether they need anything; the customers can't flag the staff down, because the wall hides them. Nobody can people watch, and the already limited space, being that it's New York, is now taken up by a Great Wall.

A nice place. Good wine, but the music can be too loud to chat easily in the evenings Food: fall gnocchi dish was delicious!!! Great for brunch as well.
