A little above average.... a Nu Yaker might think this is authentic "Mexican Cuisine" but to us locals it is just another mexican restaurant in the San Diego tourist area. Since it's on the grounds of the hacienda motel it gets a lot of government employees travelling into SD on Sunday afternoon for whatever they do down the hill at SPAWAR and they sometime crowd the outdoor patio on sunday evening and talk shop annoyingly.

Breakfast:
Admittedly I was not in a great mood walking in, however this restaurant did nothing to improve my mood. We walked in and received points from staff as to which general area to sit. After waiting a little while our server noticed us and introduced herself. Menus were only available on request as they also had a breakfast buffet option. After waiting a little while for the menus and then again to order I got a beef breakfast burrito, coffee and water. The burrito was about 90% egg, 5% tortilla and 5% other with just enough meat to legally be able to call it a beef burrito. The eggs were soggy and oily while the beef that was there was overcooked and probably from last night's stock. The salsa tasted like a cheap store brand. As for the coffee, it was weak and burnt tasting. Also, upon receiving more coffee I asked for additional creamer, which, like my water, was never refilled.
Overall our server was absent from our table and slow in her job. The decor is the standard "Mexico" theme that's everywhere in old town, which makes the damage to the floors and walls less noticeable.
I would not recommend this place for breakfast, lunch and dinner maybe, but the breakfast is clearly just an attempt to court hotel guests into paying too much for too little.

Been one of favorites for years! Sunday brunch is the best! Best food, best service and a good price. A must visit when in the San Diego area.

Really like the mood of the place, but the burritos aren't that good. Good margaritas though. Service is OK.

Super cheap drinks, Sheisty food. Americanized, white people Mexican food.
