As a Persian myself, I came here with my family a night ago and we absolutely Loveeedd it!!! Trysten was our lovely waiter even though all of them treated us kindly. The food was great! We live originally in California and there was a good difference in taste. We enjoyed listening to them about their exciting cultural celebrations including belly dancing, and more from starting 7:00 pm. Recommend this place a lot.

Our experience was good! Super nice staff, good reasonably priced food. We shared the app platter and the meat platter. Some of the meat was a little dry, but the majority of it was tasty. The app platter and the sangria were delish! And our food was a little late (hardly) so the waitress brought us out a free dessert which was nice of her. Also, if you're looking for peace and quiet, DON"T GO TO YBOR! Lol it says right on the window, music, drinks, fun. We loved the energy of the dancers, waiters, napkins and all that. The bellydancer was awesome, I actually felt bad for her cause she was trying to be interactive with guests and put on a show and nobody paid attention to her. Some people are just grumpy and don't know how to have fun.

This place might be fun for some, but not for me. Here are the reasons why I will not go back to Acropolis - Ybor location.

1.) I can take the Zorba greek dance every hour on the hour. It is a little loud but I can take it. Just a little dance with the waitresses, smashing of plates and throwing of napkins. This I can deal with. But the belly dancer every hour on the half hour? Her castanets were very loud and it went on and on. So we have the Zorba dance from 7:00 - 7:15, then 15 minutes of peace, then the belly dancer from 7:30 to what seems like eternity (maybe 15 minutes), then 15 minutes of peace again. Then the Zorba dance again at 8:00, and the cycle continues.

2.) And when I say "15 minutes of peace", I'm being nice. The music was still too loud to carry on a conversation.

3.) The food was just okay, but it could have been seasoned a little better.

4.) Our waitress was horrible. It wasn't even that busy and we were always waiting for her. She forgot my friend's tea and it still took her 15 minutes to bring it out once we reminded her. And when the food was brought out, every main dish and side dish was on a separate plate. So there were 4 of us, and that's about 3 plates each. So we had at least 12 plates on our tiny little table. It was ridiculous. And how long do you think it took the waitress to clear off the table? (Correct answer: It never happened.)

5.) This is probably the #1 reason why I'm not going back. They do this thing where they bring out a plate of some sort of cheese, soak it in cognac, and light it on fire. It's called saganaki. It smells like burning flesh. It's possibly the worst smell I have ever smelled and I almost vomited. I pride myself in having a controlled gag reflex: I've been pregnant twice with no morning sickness, I've worked with babies, I've worked at kennels, I've had my fair share of gross smells in my day. This one is the worst. And it happened 5 times and lingered. I could not get that smell out of my nose.

Now I've been to other Acropolis locations during lunch and it's been fine. I will never go back to this location though. If you don't like loud music, horrible waitstaff, sub par food and the smell of burning flesh, I suggest you don't go either.

Sat outside, alone, sipping mojitos while I waited for the excellent food that was delivered. Read some Isabel Allende as I watched the poeple stroll by. Friendly waiter always solicitous and charming. No rush to empty the table. Pastitsio... perfectly layered and seasoned. Creamy bechamel sause... beautifully plated. Great drinks to sip and taste and remember.
