03/16/2016 3:32 amLovely space and concept, unfortunately overpriced menu and ungenerous policies. Adding an upcharge to coffee that's already $5 feels exploitative. This may be the only coffee shop in Seattle that tries to charge extra for whipped cream instead of offering it upon request. Their drinks cost a little more than standard to begin with and they charge the upper end for EVERY little extra. $1 extra for any milk besides cow. I ordered a tea and asked if they would put flavoring in it, the barista did that but charged me $1 extra even though that particular upcharge wasn't on the menu and he didn't tell me. When I asked if he'd charged me extra, he was like "yeah of course." He did thoughtfully check to make sure the flavoring level was right and offered to add more if I wanted it. After i sat down, I realized the flavor was a little weak and approached the other barista after waiting for him to finish a 20-minute chat with some other patrons about the details of pastries. He reluctantly took my cup but warned me he would have to charge me extra for this next time. I let him know I'd already paid extra for it and the other barista had already offered to adjust the flavor when he gave me the drink. Got the impression the second guy was a new employee just trying to tow the line, but for a $7 tea, you should get all the flavoring you want with nothing but grace. Nice digs, but don't buy anything unless your money grows on trees and you want them to make you feel like a human atm. I guess they have to take all they possibly can to keep the bookstore open? Idk, unpleasant experience, was hoping for better! |

03/12/2016 9:51 pmI am overwhelmed with positive sentiment about Ada's after my first visit. A fascinating selection of books, DIY electronics, puzzles and other geeky novelties. The space is bright, welcoming and comfortable. The cafe makes great coffee and offers pastries as well as more substantial food options. They also have a co-working space upstairs, with daily or monthly passes available. I will absolutely be be back- looking forward to spending many hours here. |

12/03/2015 1:36 amTerrific atmosphere, quiet, bright, and nerdy. Food is vegetarian and simple. Wi-fi is super fast. Drinks are pretty good, though not their strong suit. Overall, I love Ada's and highly recommend it! |
