Food:

Agozar has a great happy hour special. You can't beat buy one get one drinks and tapas. We tried a variety of foods and strangely enough I enjoyed the ribs the most. The cocktails were pretty good as well. Nothing to write home about but overall the experience was pretty good.

I thought the tapas were good but the service was horrible. To be fair, it was a busy night and only one stressed out, overworked waitress covering all tables. There were about eight bartenders standing around gossiping. None of the staff smiled or seemed welcoming. No one was outright rude, and it didn't seem personal, but it was very noticeable.

My friend and I just happened to stop in for the buy one get one free drinks and tapas and it was the best drink I had in my 3 day stay in Nyc! Loved it!

I gotta say that this one one of my favorite Spanish spots in NYC. Am i going out on a limb? This place really rocks. They're food is absolutely delicious. Being Hispanic, i tend to stay away from latin cuisine, but Agozar just does it right time after time. Usually go here for happy hour where apps and drinks are buy one get one free - um thats a no brainer!! Been here also for mother's day and my mother (who is the best cook in the WORLD) absolutely enjoyed it. Must try these apps: Chicharron De Pollo, Rellenitos, Camarones Agri-dulce, Escabeche. Must try these entrees: Pollo Al Mojo Cubano, Lechon, Churrasco, and Vaca Frita. As for drink i always get the same two - shame on me i guess -- the Mojito and the Mango Caipirhina

I had a very successful birthday brunch here a few years ago, and though I cannot remember many details from that day except my friends & I had to break into the restaurant for food. The key-holder never showed up that day so the restaurant called a locksmith to cut the lock off. Yes, quite the memorable 5-star experience.

A few weeks ago, I reunited with an old friend and we decided on this place for happy hour. I booked a reservation through OpenTable for two. When I got there, the woman hostess/manager checked me in, but when she found out I was only doing happy hour, decided to cancel my reservation. Her reasoning was that I was not eating in the main dining room, and that as a result, she would be losing money. I didn't really like her demeanor or explanation, but I wasn't going to argue over some OpenTable points.

Since I was still waiting for my friend, I took advantage of their free draft beer offer on yelp. I'm kind of a stickler for service, and the bartender didn't seem so happy that I was redeeming this offer. Due to no fault on the waitress' part, my Blue Moon took about 8 minutes to arrive. There were only a few patrons at the bar, a few tables were filled, and I was sitting a few feet away from him. Yup, he was clearly unhappy that I used an offer that they advertised so he took his time to pour out my beer. I know this because I saw the waitress inquire about the offer to him, he looked right at me, and then resumed his conversation with a bar patron without a hitch.

We ordered only 2 dishes of tapas, one that was good and the other was so-so: the empanaditas and the chorizo, respectively. The drinks were decently made; their buy one, get one free drink/tapa happy hour deal is not bad. With the exception of the waitstaff, the management and bartending staff needs some tweaking.
