My mum and I grabbed dinner here on a weeknight when we visited Ala Moana. It seemed like the best option in the food court (for us). Aja has a very minimalist feel to their “restaurant”—my mum said it didn't really look like a place that sells food. Luckily for us they do, and it’s pretty decent.
We got their two item plate, which means you get to choose two main dishes and get three vegetable sides. I was confused by that language when I looked at the menu until I looked at the vegetables and realized that they were mostly Korean banchan (side dishes). Makes sense since the lady behind the counter is Korean :P For our two items we got garlic chicken (seems to be their most popular dish) and salmon; for our three veggie sides we got spicy daikon, choy sum, and pickled seaweed. I also got one of their pre-packaged spam musubi.
The seating area for the food court is large so we had no problem finding a table nearby. The garlic chicken is somewhat similar to Panda Express’ orange chicken but obviously focuses on the garlic flavour. I thought it was pretty good. My mum liked the salmon too (I’m allergic to salmon so I did not try it). The three veggie side dishes, however, were not good. I’m hoping they were bought because if that Korean lady made them herself, she should be ashamed.
They told us the spam musubi had been just made, but we brought it back to the hotel with us since we were pretty full. I had it later that night and it was decent. Nothing special but it hit the spot. For our two item plate and one spam musubi, our total came out to $12.40 after tax.
