Aki Sushi, New York, New York, Chinese Restaurant Details

Delivery is consistently slow and sushi has clearly been made a while a go and sitting around.

Mediocre at best. The sushi wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good either. I'm surprised this place has so many good reviews, because the other day I ate at another sushi place a few blocks away that received lots of negative reviews here, and it was much better than Aki.

I ordered on their website, and it took 45 minutes to arrive, even though the restaurant is only a few blocks away. I think they used that stupid Seamless company to deliver. My sushi arrived luke-warm (instead of cold and fresh) because it was nestled in the basket next to a bunch of chinese food from different restaurants.

Anyway, they only gave me a tiny dab of wasabi, and a whole bunch of ginger. So all the sushi wound up soaking in the ginger juices, which I hate.

And they didn't even give me very much food for the price. One order of regular sushi (non-rolled) usually elicits two pieces from most sushi joints, but this place only gave me a single piece, and the rolls only yielded 6 pieces per order. I know 6 is typical, but they were small pieces. And come on, this is New York.

So to summarize, the sushi wasn't terrible, but it's not really worth ordering from if you're hankering for a good sushi meal. Look elsewhere first.

My number one go-to for sushi lunches. Their lunch combinations are a great value - especially since my preferred fish of choice is sashimi. My combo consists of 9 pieces of assorted sashimi, a bowl of rice, a few pieces of fried shumai, four pieces of california roll, salad and miso soup. The quality of fish is fine, and the other items are decent as well. This place offers a most efficiently priced menu in comparison to other sushi joints. Highly recommended.

So far, I have ordered delivery from Aki Sushi twice. Both times they were very quick and delivered hot, good quality, standard "American" Japanese food. I recommend: the Miso Soup, Beef Gyoza (really good), Avocado Roll; I don't recommend: the Age Tofu, which was WAY too fishy.
