02/22/2016 4:35 amMY FRIEND GOT DRUGGED HERE! Just beware ladies. When she approached the owner asking for assistance because she was feeling weird he yelled at her and kicked her out. A drug test confirmed she was drugged and a police report has been filed. Turns out the person she suspects drugged her is a friend of the owner. BE CAREFUL LADIES! |

02/13/2016 10:47 pmAl-Amir is, by far, our favorite restaurant in Portland. It has become a family tradition extending to our sons and their families, our brothers and sisters, and friends. The food is always great and the hospitality is the best I've experienced in a restaurant; you are made to feel "at home." Also, having lived in the Middle East, we can attest to the fact that the food is not only delicious but also very authentic in all aspects. Highly recommended. |

11/10/2015 11:53 pmWe went for a late lunch, just after 1 pm, and were basically seated in the doorway, even though there were plenty of seats available in the dining room! We ordered hummus as a starter, and we could barely serve three people from the tiny serving. Also the pita bread was store-bought, but at least it was slightly warm. We ate the four halves but were never offered more. I ordered the chicken shawarma, which turned out to be dry, shredded chicken with a little tahini sauce drizzled on top and a few shaved onions. There was a huge mound of rice, served with some marinara sauce on the side. Marinara sauce? At a Lebanese restaurant? Our guest couldn't eat the lamb shawarma because of the strong flavor. This used to be a great place -- what happened? I talked it up as THE place for Lebanese food in Portland, and was embarrassed at the service and food. |
