WOW! I have read some of the reviews and am shocked. I've been frequenting Alfred's since I was a young lad. This is one of the premier restaurants in the City. The steaks are incredible. They make home made ravioli. The bar is renown for holding top whiskey. I normally have my dinner at the bar and the service has always been exceptional. There's one thing I cannot stand and that's an arrogant, inattentive barkeep and I have never seen that at Alfred's. The barkeep has always been top notch. This is one of the few joints around where they actually know how to make a proper martini.

I personally know the owner, Marco. He's a consummate gentleman raised in the restaurant business. If you want fast food this isn't the place to come to. Enjoy your experience at Alfred's. Don't rush it. Let Marco and his crew take care of you and I promise, you will have an enjoyable evening.

The best hospitality and food in the city. Owner is very personable and goes out of his way to give the best customer service one has to give. I have recommended Alfreds to several of my clients and they loved it also. A great family business!

Came here for dinner with some coworkers.

1. Mixed field greens and romaine salad
~Mediocre. Salad was drenched in dressing.

2. Filet mignon
~Mediocre. Steak was cooked a bit over and was extremely dry. No sauce.

3. Double chocolate torte
~Mediocre.

Service was okay, although I had to request for more bread.

I was highly disappointed in the food here. Maybe it's because it's in Chinatown since the cut I ordered was a filet but it looked like something else! I set my filet back and they just cooked it some more making it burnt! I don't recommend this place, especially if it's for a corporate function. There is a banquet room downstairs but there's no Wi-fi available.

The place smelled like a pet store or a rodent infested house when we stepped in. I wanted to leave, but we stayed. The crab cakes were great, but the steaks were of average to poor quality. The texture was poor and the flavor lacking. It is in a cool, tucked away location and the atmosphere of an old school steakhouse. Great if you are more interested in drinking Frank Sinatra style than the food. Seriously, the hard liquor offering is impressive for this day in age.

Skip this unless you are just trying to avoid a chain.

"Deep leather booths", "bordello-red" decor and a "well-trained" staff that's "been there forever" take you "back to the '50s" at this "retro fabulous" Downtown steakhouse where the beef is "prepared precisely as requested" and "huge" martinis inspire "gin-induced good-old-boys camaraderie"; the "mandatory" "service surcharge" irks some meat mavens, but most maintain it's still a "much better deal than most."
