This Southie institution is still going strong thanks to its throwback formula of serving up a large selection of hearty old-fashioned American pub eats at reasonable prices; a reliable staff nurses local color assembled at a wonderful hand-carved mahogany centerpiece, creating a hopping, retro scene with a bit o' Irish atmosphere.

I was in there on Thursday night and enjoyed a very nice meal at the bar and the service was great the two bartenders had excellent personalities and really brought the experience home.

A long time ago, as a local café, bar, this was blue collar good. The type of place you might see Tip O'Neill. Now it is a pretentious arrogant insolent fraud. I give it 12 to 18 months.

My girlfriend and I came in on a Saturday evening. We ordered our dinner, but after 90+ minutes, they still did not bring the food to the table. The waitress came every 20-30 minutes, promising us that the food would come soon. I finally lost the patience, and asked to talk to the manager. The manager came and told us that they had a computer problem so that all the customers were waiting. Here are three problems, however. First, the manager was extremely impatient, as if we were the ones to blame. Second, how come a computer problem would delay food serving? Third, if it was indeed delayed so much, someone should have warned us, rather than letting us wait without knowing the situation. My speculation is that the kitchen of the restaurant is just simply too small, and thus could not handle customers brought in by promotions from Groupon or etc. In fact, it was quite clear that they do not even have enough waitstaff. Our waitress is pretty good, but she is too busy to cover 10+ tables. Believe or not, after we requested the bill, it took another 20 minutes for us to get it. With this terrible experience, I would suggest that one should definitely avoid this restaurant on busy evenings.

Had drinks and dinner there on a Friday night. Good selection of beers, wine and signature cocktails. Food menu was extensive and very reasonably priced. I would definitely go back again.

Well, I would love to be one of the people that left great reviews for this place.
My groupon was expiring (tomorrow is the last day), so I called them to make a reservation. I called twice, no answer, not even answering machine. Strange...
We decided to go there anyway. We were greeted by a lady that told us that they have more than an hour of wait time. Me: I tried to call you to make a reservation. Her:I know, I am not taking any phone calls, we are extremely busy, tomorrow is the last day of Groupon. Me: well in this case are you willing to extend the Groupon? Her: No way!
Me: Can you at least apologize? Her: NO! This is what you get when you wait to use your Groupon until the last day.
I think this was priceless! We left of course...
