A longtime East Village vegan standard-bearer, this go-with-the-flow BYO is a wholesome destination for your-body-as-a-temple dining at a reasonable, cash-only cost; though the decor is spartan and the service loose, there's always a line for a table.

I renamed the restaurant as the Complacent Cauliflower. Often bland, repeat performance (mediocre at best), not one mmmmm, my mother's 1970's veggies - overcooked and flavorless. If I made the meals we were served for dinner, we would eat them, but I wouldn't prepare them a second time. The best part of the meal, and I am not joking, was the hot sauce. I truly dislike hot sauce, there is always an undertone that lingers. When the salsa served with the dish lacked some kick, despite the menu listing jalapeno as a main ingredient, the server brought their homemade hot sauce. Smooth, nice kick, not brutally hot, and not lingering aftertaste.

Angelica Kitchen is a great vegan restaurant. The food is flavorful and the restaurant has great ambience. They only take cash so remember to bring some. They do have an ATM by the entrance if you forget to bring cash.

Great. I had the "a boy named souffle" and the sweet potato pie. Both were delicious. Reminder: this place only accepts cash

The food here is tasty. I am especially a fan of the Ole Man Seitan, but the Norimaki and Open Faced Tempeh Sandwich are also both good. On my most recent visit, I liked the chili, but the accompanying cornbread was too dense.

The worst thing about Angelica's Kitchen is the wait to get a table, which can be quite long (more than a half hour is typical) on a nice Saturday around 7.

Angelica Kitchen is a haven for Vegans and people-who-eat-vegan-sometimes alike! Far cry from your average vegan hipster shack, Angelica Kitchen brings the heat with it's modern decor, and teeters a healthy balance between classy and casual.
I had way too much food here (not really, because if you've been here you know you CANT have too much of anything from this fine establishment!) I particularly enjoyed:
+Southern corn bread with vegan butter
+Iced coffee with frozen coffee as the ice cubes (so it doesn't get watered down as it melts)
+Papaya noodles
+Good company

You can't go wrong here, pop in for a bit and prepare yourself for a vegan journey unlike you've known before!
