Best place in San Diego to get fresh Seafood. You can either get all dressed up and make dinner reservations for an elegant night or you can walk right up to the outdoor window and order some incredible fish or shrimp or chicken. I have never had a bad experience here and would highly recommend this to anyone living in or visiting the San Diego area.

I ate here on my last night in San Diego and we got a table right by the ocean. The sun was going down as I ate a delicious coconut shrimp and steak dinner. There was always water in my glass and the waitress was even kind enough to take a group photo for us. Excellent food and friendly service!

The food was delicious...we went to celebrate my daughter's birthday while on vacation. The calamari was very tasty and fresh. All of our family members had different items...surf and turf. Crab legs, salmon, shrimp. My ulitimate favorite was the calamari, ceasar salad and the creamy new England Chowder. We have never been disappointed and have continued to go to Anthony's Fish Grotto since my late father took as young kids. The view of the ocean and sunset is wonderful with the food. I suggest anyone wanted to find a great seafood place try this place... you won't be disappointed. Wish we lived closer to enjoy this experience more often. Happy Birthday Giana!

Good crab cakes, but too expansive, costed me over $31 for lunch today. OMG, too much.

Should've ordered the hot dog , unfortunately they didn't have one on the menu. But if they had it would no doubt either be crusted with tasteless bread crumbs to cover up the greasy squishiness the scallops suffer from ( which require a good tooth brushing after eating to rid your mouth of the used oil aftertaste ) or topped off with a melange of bottled vegetables to cover up the dried out toughness like the Swordfish patty was. The place apparently has been around since 1947 , luring hungry tourists and old people who enjoy ultra bland fare outrageously priced and indifferently served for decades. No matter what your nutritional needs are , if you're starving to death ....just crawl to the dumpster behind the Jack In The Box a few blocks away and have at it. At least you can get what you order at a fast food manufacturing plant instead of ordering item A and getting instead ,what probably was rejected by a more prudent diner and sent back to the kitchen at this seafood museum.

"Around for decades", these "classic" midpriced seafooders still turn out "famous" chowder and other "delicious" daily catches for "tourists and locals" alike; service is "family-friendly", and though critics call the La Mesa and Downtown spots fairly "dated", they're won over by the "completely unpretentious" feel and "fresh ocean breezes" at the latter locale's more "casual" Fishette adjunct.
