The west side market is a must see in Cleveland! A lot of the venders are very good at what they do! Definitely stop at the gyro place, but be ready to wait in line. The produce outside is fresh and a good deal, but they all come from large suppliers and not directly from the farmers like a farmers market

Would go every Saturday with my parents. An amazing family adventure, all the fresh produce and wonderful places to eat. You truly can't beat it! This is really what Cleveland is about.

I've been going here since I was a little kid. I bring my kid here and he loves it. You need to get there at opening if you want a good parking spot and to avoid the crowds. If you can't handle that, then don't go. Don't give this place bad reviews just because you can't figure out the parking and can't stand crowds. Get over it. This place has good food at good prices. I heard it described by an out of towner as 'The Disney World of Food'.

Food:

The West Side Market is an historic trading of Cleveland's near West side. Here you can find a plethora of fresh groceries and unique foods that you can't find anywhere else. Uncommon fruits like lycée abound. You can scour deliciously prepared meats or eye the most decadent of cassata cakes you could imagine.

The only thing to be wary of is the potential of being sold shoddy product; the produce in particular. If you enter from the W. 25 entrance, the first fruit and veggie salespeople and the ones toward the middle are the most reliable. As you get to the back, closer to the main indoor market square, the sellers become more high pressure and the items are just not as good. They'll gladly sell you 12 mangos for $3 but they'll all be bad in 3 days. Buy if you are using it that day, but don't stock up and expect it to last.

This market is a much like the North Market in Columbus for anyone who has been there. It has so much history and acts as an inter-generational and cross cultural medium connecting all peoples.

Bought three containers of berries at a produce stand...vendor gave great deal for three types of berries for $5. Seemed like a good deal, but she picked three packs from behind her display and quickly sacked them. Got home to find all were rotten, moldy, and had to be thrown away. Make sure that you make these shysters allow you to choose your own packaged items. I will always remember this woman's face and the stand. Very bad experience.
