Some coworkers and I went to Armand's because we had Entertainment Book coupons. When we were seated, we asked to be seated at separate tables and place separate orders so that we could use the coupons. They told us they would ask the manager to come speak with us regarding the coupons and in the meantime they sat us together and took our orders. The manager never came out and the server ignored us the entire time. When it was time to pay, they refused to honor both coupons and the manager argued with us and threatened to call the cops on us unless we paid the entire bill. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau. Don't eat at Armand's. Save your money for some good food and management that still aims to please the customers.

As a long time Chicago native, and recent DC transplant, I will tell you right now, the Pizza here is not Chicago style.
It is kind of pan pizza.

The thing save for Milwaukee, no city outside of Chicago gets this type of pizza right. They think make pizza in a pan with a thicker crust...its Chicago style. Which is flat out wrong.

There are actually two types of Chicago style pizza, thin crust and the pan style.
The thin crust is a pizza that is has tons of garlic, Oregano and other Italian spices. It is traditionally cut in slices.

The second style is the pan pizza. Which uses a deep pan, a garlic crust. The important factor now, that nearly every pizza place in Chicago gets wrong. The cheese and "toppings" (spinach or sausage are pretty much the tradition) are mixed on the bottom and the sauce goes on top. No place seems to get this right. The sauce is supposed to be a marinara sauce, or thick tomato sauce, there is supposed to be a ton of cheese and toppings.

Armands fails in every respect with regards to this. Its just a mediocre pizza place.

DC does have decent pizza, especially in the Dupont and Adams Morgan area. The Jumbo slice tradition in DC offers some pretty good pizza at select places.

My office ordered pizza from them that took two hours to arrive. We kept calling and were told "it's on the way" -- an obvious lie, as the delivery guy told us he received the pizza in hand only about 10 minutes before he showed up at our office. Granted, the pizza was really really good, but hardly worth waiting 2 hours for.
