Whoever made negative remarks was ridiculous! They were busy people trying to keep the customers moving through the line. Though packed, they tried to accommodate everyone. Food was great, but desserts were too sweet. Not many in my family like tomatoes at all, but they were amazed by the fried green tomatoes! Roast beef was excellent as well as the country fried steak, turnip greens and macaroni and cheese. Try the hot cakes, too.

When we got there the line was out the door into the new area they'd built on. It had been a while since I'd been there and had seen they are expanding. I told him while waiting in line how good the food was, and how happy I am that they were expanding. Nothing but good things to say seeing as I loved this place and the food. We waited in line for about 20-30 min... The usual wait to order so that didn't bother me. My friend who was with me had never eaten there before so I assured him it was worth the wait.

By the time we got to the front counter to order, one guy asked was it to go, we said yes. I told him I wanted 2 plates for myself to go, and my friend wanted a plate of his own to go. He began making my first plate, and then asked what I wanted for my second plate. I told him what I wanted and he made my plates. Now this is were it all got unpleasant for me. The guy whose name is Franz came over and said you aren't suppose to order 2 plates for 1 person. Only 1 plate per person, otherwise you have to call it in. Now keep in mind, I am not new to this place at all. I've never been told in the past that I can't order more than 1 plate to go so this confused me. Then he proceeded to ask so you want a plate and he wants a plate, I told him I was getting 2 plates and he said well for future reference its only 1 plate per person. I simply said ok. Now he's asking what kind of meat I wanted for my plate in the midst of this my friend is having a hard time as well. I said I wanted the Roast beef. He made me aware that it was very very rare. I looked at it, and it was TOO RARE to my liking. I actually had to put it in the microwave when I got home to cook it a little more before I ate it because it looked too raw. But I told him I'll take it (because that is what I came for and always get). So he put that on my plate and handed it to me. Now my friend has never eaten here before so he's just trying to figure out what all they had. Franz then told him to hurry up because they had a long line. In my mind I'm thinking (you all always have a long line, why are you being rude and rushing US) but I still held my composure. So my friend was just said he didn't want the roast beef because it was too red and bloody what else do you have. Frustrated and confused he said just give me the chicken. Now my friend is still waiting for his plate. The guy is making the next guys plate behind my firend without even finishing our plates yet. He finally hands my friend his plate, and I'm at the register waiting. By this time I am just confused and upset because it never takes this long to check out. Finally I asked the woman at the register where is my other plate. I looked over and my plate is just sitting there. Then Franz asked me again what kind of meat I wanted for that one. I told him Roast beef as well. He finally finished my plate and she rung us up. I couldn't wait to get out of there I was so furious and embarrassed that I'd spoke so highly and got treated that way.

When we got in the truck the first guy we spoke to ran out because I'd forgotten to grab my mac and cheese which I thought was a nice thing to do after such a bad experience. Once I got home I called to make a complaint about it and asked for the guys name who treated us that way for this review. The woman who picked up said she had just gotten there and don't know if she was there when we were. She said she was so sorry and she would talk to him, she was very nice, and told me I could come back and she would take care of me. I told her I was ok and thank you. In the past I would have given this place 5 stars. But I just can't. The newer workers just didn't make the experience of Arnolds as pleasant as before. My rating is based on NOW and I will never be going to that location again. I'm going to give the new location a try.

I HAVE FREQUENT THIS ESTABLISHMENT FOR 25 PLUS YEARS. IT IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE BEST COUNTRY COOKING IN THE MUSIC CITY. THERE MAY BE SOME SO CALLED OTHER SIMILAR VENUES OUT THERE. ACTUALLY WHEN YOU ARE THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN. THERE IS NO COMPETITOR. AND I APPROVE THIS MESSAGE !!!! SINCE THIS IS AN ELECTION YEAR HERE UPON US. I FEEL THAT ALL CANDIDATES THAT ARE RUNNING FOR PUBLIC OFFICE, ESPECIALLY THE VOTERS WHO MAY BE UNDECIDED ON THEIR CHOICE FOR OFFICE. THE FOOD THERE WILL HEAL YOUR SOUL, PUT YOUR MIND ON THE RIGHT TRACK. IT IS THE IN MY OPINION HAS BECOME AN INSTITUTION ALL ITS OWN. THANK YOU

It was awesome! Was bummed that they were out of the fried chicken. Got the pork chop instead. My kids pretty much licked their plates. Worth every minute waiting in line. Friendly staff. It's that perfect hole in the wall restaurant that you can only hope to find on a road trip. Why guy fieri hasn't found it yet is beyond me.

The **NEW** location in Green Hills is HORRIBLE.. First, there is no parking because of course the residents live here and technically is there spots. The menu's online, inside and the to go menu's are out of date & everyone was being advised the correct one is outside, there was no direction as far as sitting, one waitress yelled out, she was not sitting anyone else just grab a sit with someone (confusing) and my biggest issue was I placed my TO GO order before 6 of the people that was served and treated very well before me (Mind you, all of these people were Caucasians) and I was looked at but completely ignored!!!!! When I brought the staff attention, management looked at me and kept going and I NEVER received my food! They were bringing out the wrong food orders and assisting people of their own. This place and even the previous company and area have a tendency to treat African Americans like trash. I will NOT support or recommend this restaurant to anyone ever again. Treat all of your customers fair, my money spends just as theirs does. The food is not even a 10 anyhow.
