VEGETARIANS beware! They serve Non-Veg food when you order vegetarian food!
Ofcourse they don't care and expect you to you pay the entire bill!

I had ordered "Vegetarian Food" with vegetarian bread. GUESS WHAT I GOT? They served me "Keema Bread "(Goat meat) instead of the normal bread. I ate a small piece and it felt weird, so I called the waiter and asked him what was in the bread. He said, "Oooh, I pressed the wrong button by mistake when ordering" How can you press the wrong button by mistake!!! No apologies from the Manager or Owner too or anyone!

I was really disappointed as I am a vegetarian and have never tasted meat and this is ridiculous! Wanted to throw up! I was really disappointed but they did not care instead brought me my bill, what customer service!

I will not take this lightly and will be further taking up this matter but wanted to post this review as soon as possible to WARN Vegetarians to avoid this restaurant! They have three restaurants in this area (2 IN VIRGINIA AND 1 IN WASHINGTON DC - same name AROMA) VEGETARIANS BEWARE!!! AVOID IT!!!!

Was visiting DC and craved Indian cuisine. So glad I found Aroma! The service was great and the food was so delicious! Not anymore expensive than what I usually pay in Maryland, it averages about ($15.75 per entree). I will definitely go back there again.

Beware of this restaurant. They will fool you like anything!!! I am pure vegetarian and asked Paneer Makhani. To my surprise and horrorful dream, I was given Paneer with chicken pieces in it. Thank god I checked it before eating. I called waiter and showed him. He said sorry and bought new Paneer makhani dish. Again same thing happened. Chicken pieces were present. Beware of this restaurant and stay away from this place!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are other good restaurant in nearby place.

My rating is based on what I've found in DC. In other cities like Los Angeles, San Jose, or New York, the rating would be lower. I am vegetarian, so the review reflects that slant. I've been on the road a lot the last month and stuck eating a ton of pasta, so I was looking for variety.

Overall, the decor, service, and prices were reasonable. A vegetarian dish was around $8-$9, a thali around $17 -- right where I would expect it. The staff was polite and pretty attentive.

The food was bland. Hard to describe any other way than that. All the basic ingerdients and spices were there, but the dishes simply didn't taste like much. The dishes did have a good level of heat, which surprised me.

I ordered a garlic naan with my meal, but they brought a garlic kulcha with a side of raita. The breads didn't seem like they were cooked in a real tandoor and were bland like the main dishes. I would recommend sticking with the basic paratha since it doesn't rely on tandoor skill.

The samosas were the highlight of the meal. Well spiced, crispy.

Wine list was pretty good by the glass for the type of restaurant and the pricing.

I didn't walk out feeling like it was a bad meal, but definitely wasn't satisfied by the taste. I wouldn't recommend this as solid Indian food. It wasn't BAD, but it also wasn't worth a second visit.

If you're in town for business and it is conveniently located, it is an option for variety, but if you are craving Indian food there are better options in DC.

I don't plan to go back unless my hotel is right next to it again.
