Came on a Sunday for lunch. Pizza came out quick and delicious. Crust was just right, not too doughy and not too thin. Friendly employees. Great little neighborhood pizza joint.

The location was good and convenient. Right almost on the way home, that earned it one star. The fact that the girl was friendly and easy with pleasant light conversation earned it another star. That's it. They would have gotten another star for growlers to go, but the selection was weak, 3 beers on tap, none of which stand out in a crowd, especially a good beer drinkin crowd like one is likely to find in Portland.

The pizza was a strange hybrid crust between *wanting* to be NY style and a lighter flakier crust, almost crispy-ish thinner crust, didn't work for me. I can forgive it not being NY pizza as they advertise "gourmet" which in Portland means "we don't know what pizza is supposed to actually taste like, but we love good toppings", but what I cannot forgive is the flavor of those toppings falling incredibly flat, no flavor what-so-ever and the crust was corn meal baked... really? Who does that? Why would you have a flat slab pizza oven and then put corn meal down? Not only that, but our pizza had corn meal stuck to the bottom of it from previous pizzas, burnt on, awesome...

The best part was the calzone, which was NOT a calzone, First of all a calzone has ricotta cheese in it, I noticed a severe lack of ricotta cheese. A calzone also is generally fluffy, this was flat and made of the same crappy dough as the pie, it also has the sauce inside the calzone, any one who has ordered a calzone anywhere that has ever even heard of these things knows the sauce is on the side. Period. Sauce on side, or else its a pizza pocket. I order calzones because I like ricotta cheese and no sauce. Seriously.

Over all it wasn't a bad eating experience except for the food and drink. I would recommend to someone to try this place but would advise against getting your hopes up. There are a few places to get better pizza within a few blocks from here, I will go to one of those next time.

Atomic pizza is great, the pizza is great and full of flavor and has a great feel. The people that work there are friendly and love to chat. I recommend it highly!

The thing about Atomic Pizza is that it is everything a neighborhood pizza joint should be. There's no hipster pretentiousness, there's no trying to be something its not. It's just good, honest pizza made by someone who grew up in the neighborhood, and learned his pizza making chops at a local (and well liked) nearby pizza joint.

The toppings are good quality, the dough and sauce made fresh, the owners responsive and really active in their community, and frankly, if you want to enjoy a slice and a beer, you could do a lot worse than Atomic Pizza, and you'd be hard-pressed to find better.

I'm a big Paul Bunyan fan (one of the menu items), but they're also responsive to suggestions.

I've been with friends, and have taken my kids, and the consistency and quality has been excellent.

They've added serving Ruby Jewell ice cream since I last reviewed and it's a great addition. What's better on a summer evening than sitting outside with a pizza and beer, then finishing it off with some ice cream for dessert?

Decor is ok, but they also feature local art that rotates monthly, some of it pretty cool.

Decent rotating beer taps, and fair pricing on beer and wine.

Eat in/Take out only, and they sell slices too.
