We went to Aunt Chilada's last night for a late dinner and it was excellent as always. The food (taco salad and quesadilla sampler) and drinks were delicious! The atmosphere on the patio is the best!!

The waitress said the soup of the day was alba dingas. I think she meant to say albondigas.

What a disappointing experience today! I have been coming to Aunt Chilada's for years and this was the first time that I had a terrible dining experience - and really over something so small that could have been resolved very easily by management. Shame on you, Marty!!

I ordered the cheese quesadilla, and requested to have it with veggies - onions, tomatoes, peppers, etc. When the quesadilla was brought out, it was served with cheese and carrots (!). This is definitely not what I was expecting. I asked the waiter if I could have it prepared with cheese and veggies such as onions, tomatoes, peppers - like those that would be served with fajitas.

The second order of quesadillas was served with the vegetables requested, but also with cauliflower and broccoli. This is also NOT what I was expecting. One of my girlfriends mentioned - did you order the salad bar quesadilla? LOL Needless to say, I picked off the broccoli and cauliflower and ate a small section of the food.

When the waiter returned, again we explained this is not what I was expecting. He said he would let the cook and manager know that I was not satisfied.

When the bills came, the waiter said that his manager took my iced tea off the check, but still charged me for the quesadilla and side of sour cream, then hurried away. When he returned I said I didn't think it fair that I should pay for food that I didn't eat, and that we said we would like to speak with the manager. I could not believe that the manager would handle the situation in this manner - let alone not even come to the table and apologize! The waiter did bring back my bill with the quesadilla taken off.

A few minutes later, a seemingly unkempt man without a name tag, apron, nothing to indicate he was the manager came up to our table and stood there for a moment. We realized THIS must be the manager. He said - I understand you wanted to speak to me. We said we thought it strange that those types of vegetables be on a quesadilla. He said that is how they are served and how they have always been served. I said that I didn't think it fair that I was going to be charged for food that I didn't eat and wasn't satisfied with. The food was only taken off the bill after I specifically asked.

Needless to say, the manager NEVER apologized and was very unprofessional. NEVER thanked us for our business when we said that we had been going to Aunt Chilada's for several years. He seemed very uncomfortable to have to speak with us - even a little confrontational and bothered.

Unfortunately, I will NOT be returning for a very long time - at least as long as "Marty" is the manager. Too bad - since this used to be one of our favorite places for special occasions. - or even just brunch with the girls, like it was today.

Aunt Chilada's is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the valley. I love the in-door/out-door layout. My favorite dish has to be the chicken & spinach enchilada's with double fideo. In addition, I'm a huge fan of the soft and fluffy chips with the homemade salsa. It's a great break from the traditional 'chips and salsa' you're used to getting elsewhere.

Went there for Cinco de Mayo. Excellent food, staff, atmosphere, and customers. Recommend to everybody whether visiting Arizona, or a resident. You won't be sorry.
