Decor, Service and food is great here! I don't know what's wrong with the ambiance though, for some reason it doesn't feel good to be here and it was kind of boring! and for the same reason they were more than half empty on a friday night. But they've definitely done a good job! If you are looking for a last min place to relax with no fuss, this is a yor shot!

My family and I were looking of a new place to try dinner. Of course we had our favorite spots, but saw the reviews for this place and thought we'd give it a try. That was our first mistake. Ya, the decor is lovely. Yes, the wine wasn't bad (kind of hard to mess that up). Then we get to the food. We ordered three appetizers: the calamari, escargot, and the cheese plate. The calamari was the most bland calamari I had ever had. The escargot wasn't bad--put enough oil and such on anything andit'ss bound to be decent. As for the cheese plate, I've had a better selection at Vons. Now the entrees. My braised short ribs weren't awful, weren't great either. The chili relleno was delicious, and by far the best tasting dish of the night. A family member asked for a steak medium well (I'mm a pink-on-the-inside kind of girl myself), but hers came out medium rare. My mother's lamb burger was still "baaaing". The sight of her raw lamb between a bun was so unappetizing, she gave up. Yes, they recooked the steak, and my sister was fortunate to receive it after the 5 other people had finished their meals. Lucky her.

As for service, not impressed. As someone who has worked in the food industry before, I have high expectations. This place did not come close to what I consider great service. They are lucky they included 15% gratuity on the bill, because I can guarantee they wouldn't have gotten it from us otherwise. Even when we voiced our concerns, we were told, "our table had been discussed that evening, and a 1 star review was ridiculous.". They also managed to delete a yelp review we had written. I feel bad for the businesses that can't withstand a critique. Perhaps they are in the wrong business. In a neighborhood with such great restaurants, I am confident we will not be returning to this one. I'm also pleased with the thought that I will live in San Diego much longer than they will.
