My family and I went to this restaurant for the first time 04/27/2016 for my mothers birthday. You order your food and drinks inside then sit outside to eat an you then pay outside at the register. You tell the cashier all you ordered . Every customer that went up there the cashier took their word on what they ordered and allowed them to pay. Once me and my father went to the register to tell what we ordered an pay the cashier had a paper hidden behind the register with all the things we had ordered as if we was not going to tell the truth about what we had ordered .After we had told her what we ordered she then told us well this paper say different . I felt discriminated against because we were African American . We had a party of 6 and 2 kids . My father was paying for the whole dinner the bill came out to 150$ . I feel like we spent that kind of money to be treated as if we were criminals or liars because of our skin color . the food was ok but customer service sucks I WILL NOT NOR WILL MY FAMILY EVER EAT THERE AGAIN.

Are the good reviews paid? I just came from there. Waited 45mins for my order and heavily disappointed at the ridiculous excuse of a meal we got. Im Mexican and its pretty damn sad when mexicans working in the kitchen cannot make good tacos. The tacos i got were some basic flour tortillas with nothing but a charred dry piece of cheap tasting fish inside. And they gave us RANCH. How about tartar sauce how its supposed to be. I couldve made something that wouldve looked like a 5 star meal next to this mess and im no good cook by any means. How are these people still in business?? Id give this -5 stars if i could. $45 down the drain...

A Dallas staple for great seafood, a laid back and fun atmosphere, and isn't as well known as it could be, and that's a good thing

Pros: Food, atmosphere, service, no frills
Cons: Limited seating and parking

Going to Aw Shucks needs to be a team effort, someone go get a table while the other goes inside and orders a pitcher of XX, a shrimp cocktail and a cup of shrimp and sausage gumbo. Take a minute to enjoy your appetizers, sip your cups of beer and plot your next tasty adventure. This place is simple - 1) go inside and order, 2) sit down and wait for your name to be called, 3) enjoy a yummy no frills feast 4) keep track of what you ordered and pay before you leave. I've had pretty much everything on the menu - Crab (great but not huge), Oysters (fresh, but I've had better in Boston), Po Boys, (on par with New Orleans), catfish filet (battered and heavenly), Crawfish (no frills and medium size), and Shrimp (medium size but legit). I love this place because it is exactly what you expect and becomes a place you want to return over and over again. There is a sense of community throughout the small restaurant and everyone is looking for the same thing - great food, drinks, and warm weather. It is hard to park and although you might find that a lot of people may have never been there, its always busy and its first come first serve seating. Growing up in Plano, this is where my Dad took me and my brothers when we could get away for the weekend! I plan to take my son.

I would highly recommend and can't wait to go back for more Crawfish!

I blush for Aw Shucks. This has been my family's go to seafood joint for as long as I remember and I've kept coming back. Go for the crawfish while they're in season or share a summer platter; they use a dry seasoning which I think helps maintain the original flavors. If you're in the mood for fried seafood, their fried shrimp and catfish are fantastic. The batter isn't very flavorful but they use cornmeal and it gives it a really great texture. My third option, but equally good, is to go for raw oysters. A little pricey for the size but that's to be expected in Dallas.
