baja sol in the uptown area is a wonderful restaurant it has a great atmosphere and not to mention the great selection of salsa n chips that come free with your meal....

this place sucks, first of all the fish tacos tasted rubbery so we assumed they use frozen fish. the chips are serve yourself so people are supposed to just scoop chips with their paper chip bowl. the chips are free but only if you buy a full meal not just one taco. the salsa cups are tiny and you cant even fit your whole chip in it. the rice sucks. when we were there the guy turned off half of the ceiling lights to "save the lights". it was 8:00pm, why did he wait till it was almost dark out to "save the lights", when he could have just turned off the 3 flat screens that nobody was watching.

The "red" enchilada sauce on my enchiladas was a pale orange. Not very appetizing. The corn tortillas were very chewy, and hard to cut with my plastic fork. Accompnaying black beans were tasty. Rice, standard.

Given the shortage on cash many are experiencing, it's understandable I think, that I often bring my lunch to join with large groups at fast-food restaurants. Today was my first bad experience doing this at Baja Sol on Hennepin. The employee called me over as I was talking with my friend and helping him carry his food and chips back to the table. I was asked to $3.75 for chips. I asked if I could get two orders of a desert item instead, and was told no -- rudely I might add. I informed the employee of how upset he had made me and told him I didn't need to bring my group of friends and their business back to this store again. He was completely unrelenting. I paid $3.75 and discovered the chips were cold, the salsa unpleasant, and didn't eat more than two. In short, go to a different location.
