Incredible pizzas, farm-to-table salads and other serious eats, plus a budino dessert that's out of this world, come out of the open kitchen at this Mediterranean in Washington Square West; although some report jackhammer-like decibels and cramped seating, most consider it a win every time.

Went with my husband for dinner to Barbuzzo. The seating was a bit tight, but the ambiance was good. Some of the food was quite good, but some was bland and lacked taste. The portion were small. An ok experience at best.

Came here for dinner on a Sunday night 8:30pm after making a reservation earlier in the day.

1. Sheeps Milk Ricotta, 10
Extra virgin olive oil, vin cotto, herbs, sea salt, and grilled french country bread
~Really good. Ricotta was perfectly smooth, and the evoo and other ingredients perfectly balanced the ricotta.

2. Uovo with arugala and mushrooms, 20
Brussel leaves, guanciale, secret white sauce, parmesan, fior di latte, and truffled farm egg
~Okay. Decent pizza, but it wasn't amazing. At least it stayed hot.

3. Salted Caramel Budino, 8
With dark chocolate crust, vanilla bean caramel and sea salt
~Okay. Very smooth, but I could only eat about a quarter of it since it was so rich.

Service was okay, although I had to flag my server down twice to order dessert and get the check. Decor is pretty nice though, so this would be a good date spot.

GREATLY DISSAPOINTED!!! DO NOT GO!!!

We made a reservation for 2 people in the late afternoon during restaurant week. When sited we received 2 menus, the regular and the one for the restaurant week.
Since neither one of us was very hungry, we decided to make one reservation of the 3 course restaurant week menu and share it.
One of us ordered a cocktail and when ordering the food we were told that we cannot make a one order of the restaurant week menu and share it and that we needed to order 2 of those; Either that or order from the regular menu.
How can a restaurant have the audacity to tell one whether they may or may not share the courses of the menu??? If one person wants to order the 3 course restaurant week menu and the other person wants to share some of those courses, how can they prevent it?
This is outrageous and beyond rude! ; this experience really ruined the evening for us as we were looking forward to dine in this restaurant.
We ended up ordering pizza which was very mediocre and we really regret not leaving the place when we were denied sharing the restaurant week menu.
This is really unfortunate and a way for the restaurant to lose clients. We will surely not come back there and make the same recommendation to others!

The best meal I've had in a long time, with the three course price fixe menu for Restaurant Week. I chose the bruschetta, gnocchi, and salted caramel dessert. My dining partner had the mushroom appetizer, chicken, and brown butter cake. We shared. Every dish was delicious and well presented. We sat at the chef's counter, and I appreciated watching them work. I can't wait to go back.

Good luck getting a reservation. This small Italian spot is one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. Amazing food and an excellent wine and craft beer list. The tables are a bit cramped and parking in this area is tough, but it's all worth it. Try the cheese and meat board or one of their specialty pies. The meatballs are to die for too.
