Benson is back, and the Barley Street Tavern (BST) is the most AUTHENTIC bar on the block. The owner- a music enthusiast and one of the few still giving new and emerging talent a shot in front of the mic. The BST is the perfect place to start and to finish if you are doing a night out in Benson- for sure go check out the new and happening venues, but when you're ready for REAL and INCLUSIVE you won't find a BETTER CROWD or STAFF than at Benson's BST. A total dive, but doesn't pretend to be anything more. You can catch some very good free or very cheap music shows here, but don't expect too much out of the bar.

I have seen dozens of shows at this place and it's always something different. Once I walked in and watched Connor Oberst (Bright Eyes) doing an acoustic thing with Dave Rawlings, and another time it was somone who lived three blocks away (which is awesome!) working it out with their new band. The drinks are cheap and good imports too. Touring bands stop by regularly and the locals bands say they love playing this little room because they feel so comfortable here. Everyone that comes in is so chill. It's a great hangout and I have it in my top cool live music venues.
