One of the oldest steakhouses in town, this circa-1953 meatery in Alamo Heights puts out solid dinners in a cute, barnlike space that hasn't changed in years, including the clientele; some say it's not as good as it used to be, but at least it won't cost you much.

Second time I've been here. Came all the way from SC just to bring my wife ( and for work ). Great place, staff is super, 1st time had my dog with me and they even treated her to a big bowl of ice water and a T- bone on the patio. This will be a permanent stop whenever I'm in San Antonio.

Of course steakhouses will make mistakes from time to time, but the Barn Door staff are always willing to make things right. The owner can be seen chatting with customers a few times a week to ensure their experience is pleasant, and the bartenders are top notch! Live music in the bar just adds to the atmosphere!

Oh my goodness! Food was great! Texas republic New York strip (medium) I highly recommend it! I liked the way he prepared my baked potatoe with all the fixings right infront my table. Nice environment, great service. Clean and quiet. Loved it!

Great steaks, slight high prices, worth the price. Nice place for family or friends. A San Antonio landmark.

Came here based on the many 4 star reviews, and was more than a little disappointed. Maybe those reviewers are comparing it to Golden Coral? Think of a western themed, slightly down-market Outback Steakhouse and you'll be close.

First, ignore the salad. A massive pile of cold, flavorless iceberg topped with equally flavorless croutons and one ice cold cherry tomato (which was still the best part of the bowl). The blue cheese dressing was pretty much tasteless, too.

The "baked" potato was cooked in foil, so it was steamed more than baked. Don't look for a crispy skin here. On the bright side, they give you lots of toppings.

The steaks were OK, but far from premium, and way overpriced for what they are. They claim to cook over mesquite and charcoal, but the mesquite flavor minimal. Maybe they should use more wood and less charcoal. They weren't bad, but given the cheap atmosphere, mediocre sides, and middling cuts of meat, the meal was overpriced by at least 50%
