I used to like Basil's, but this time, the experience was very poor. I spent $30 on a whole chicken and two gyros. My daughter ordered an extra tzatziki sauce and a side of greek salad dressing. I didn't get an itemized receipt so I don't know what they charged for these two small extras. (I went to the website; the menu is there, but there are no prices. Not very helpful.)

The chicken did not come with sides, and the gyros came with one side each. The mashed potatoes were ok, but the potato salad was basically chopped boiled potato with a little vinegar and a few flakes of dried parsley: it was dry and with no seasoning. I've had better potato salad just about anywhere. The gyros were ok, but the portion of meat for each one was extremely scanty. The extra tzatziki sauce was a good move because the gyros had very little sauce on them. They came with a small wedge of tomato and a smidgeon of onions, but very little tzatziki sauce. The chicken did have the distinctive Basil's flavoring, but it was on the dry side. The "sides" for the gyros were pitiful in terms of quantity. In sum I felt ripped off. I usually do my own cooking, and this is a big reason why I do it. The portions at Basil's were parsimonious, the quality and taste mediocre, and the cost was way too high for what I paid for. Finally, I do want to say that the young lady that served us at the cash register (we were taking out) was very good, making sure that we got what we ordered.

Their Greek salad dressing is wonderful. The chicken is always fresh & tender. Spinach Pie is my favorite & the 3 piece Chicken Dinner is what my husband likes. In fact we're on our way there now . . . I said I would buy! Then I got to choose where! My choice is Basil's. In their NEW interior. BEST place to order for large take out dinner's when guests drop in - great options for kids.

My family gets take out ribs and chicken from Basil's at least once a week and they are consistently excellent. The interior needs and update and is vintage 70s, so not a great place for a sit down meal. Family owned and you can tell they care about the quality of their food. The ribs are fall of the bone tender!
