12/24/2014 1:02 amSince we were traveling from a long distance out of town, we made an appointment with Baum’s for a wedding cake tasting several weeks ahead and paid in advance. We confirmed the appointment at several junctions via email as well as by phone. Baums’ contact person, Ms. Sue, told us 5 days prior we would have to change locations and time, but that she could still accommodate our cake preferences, so we agreed to the changes. On the day of, despite all our prior preparations, Ms. Sue came to us saying she was “completely unprepared". We were given no alternatives for the tasting. We had never received any phone calls to let us know of the cancellation. The entire Baum’s staff on location remained unapologetic and inattentive throughout the duration of our time in the bakery. While processing our refund Ms. Sue presented us with chopped up pastry on a small plastic plate (shown in the picture below), with no utensils or napkins. We were told this was sufficient to gauge their wedding cake product offerings. We have literally been served supermarket samples with more social grace. After an 8 hour drive, this was not the wedding consultation we expected. |

03/26/2012 3:15 amMy wife and I just moved here from SoCal and we're suckers for bakeries. The 3 times we have gone in this location we have gotten the WORST customer service, and the clientele isn't the greatest either. They seem to cater to snobby pushy customers with no class of any kind. The women behind the counter are disorganized and only cater to the customers buying the most expensive stuff. I'm willing to put up with bad service to a point. I will say the gelato they have is very good, the divinity is very good. However there seems to be a lack of butter-cream frosting, everything has a sugar coating that crumbles with every bite and is super sweet. If you like that sort of thing. There is another bakery across the street called 'Sweet Wishes', take your business there. Baum's is in desperate need of new management, they can keep their confections, there's even a Fresh Market in the other direction, probably about the same price. I'll go back when I'm feeling like getting abusive customer service. |

03/15/2012 5:15 pmI honestly don't understand why anyone would eat their stuff. I tried it twice and gave up. Bought a mix of cookies and pastries but all tasted stale and seemed to have been sitting there for while. |

11/02/2008 9:41 pmI HAVE EATEN AT THIS BAKERY NUMEROUS TIMES ONLY BECAUSE I NEED A SUGAR RUSH SOMETIMES TO GET ME THROUGH THE DAY. THE CAKE SQUARES ARE USUALLY TOO COLD AND THEY SEEM SOGGY!! THE REFRIDGERATOR IS UP TOO HIGH!! WHY DON'T THEY JUST TURN IT DOWN. WHEN I BITE INTO THEM IT IS LIKE AN ICE CUBE!! I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS NUMEROUS TIMES. I AM AT THE POINT THAT I DON'T EVEN GO IN THERE MUCH ANYMORE. I WISH AMBROSIA WAS CLOSER INTO TOWN INSTEAD OF WAY OUT ON SIEGEN!! THAT IS THE ONLY REASON WHY I GO TO BAUMS. I MIGHT AS WELL GET A CAKE FROM WALMART OR A GROCERY STORE!! |
