03/16/2011 3:42 amThe service was decent but the atmosphere created expectations about the style and quality of the food which ended up being very disappointing. We agreed it tasted like it had not been made by a 'chef' which is unacceptable for a $70 dinner for 2. |

06/08/2010 7:53 pmIt often seems as if Chinese restaurants are clones -- same decor, same menu, same ways of doing business. Ben Pao's Chinese Restaurant in north loop is however, deliciously different. |

03/16/2010 7:17 pmI came into town with some business at the Chinese Consulate and dropped by Ben Pao's for lunch with my in-laws. I had the cherry bomb shrimp while they had the sesame chicken lunch bundle. EVERYONE's food was over salted, and the fried rice didn't taste like it had been stir-fried but rather like it had been frozen and microwaved. Ugh! I've had better fried rice at a run-of-the-mill $8 Chinese buffet. The food was an insult to the elegant decor. |

05/08/2009 11:53 pmThe evening was encompassed by a homosexual waiter who not stop hitting on me when I was with my girlfriend. The only good part was that our politeness gained us a free dish. And by our I mean my one on one eye contact with the waiter, as egged on by my girlfriend who thoroughly enjoyed the free dish. |
