Benny's Mexican Food, San Diego, California Restaurant Details

Food:

I lived in South Park for over a year before I finally tried Benny's. Something about the location and the way it looks always put me off for some reason.But you know what they say about books and their covers. It took a conversation with a friend about his favorite burrito spot being Benny's for me to give it a try, and I was not disappointed!

This is a no frills, authentic Mexican joint. Low prices, awesome selection and delicious food. By far one of my favorite pollo asado and california burritos in the area. One of those paired with about 5 of their red salsa's and your hangover is instantly cured.

Food:

I love Bennys. Yes it looks like a dump and that stopped me from going in for many years. Just get it to go and you will be fine. Their burritos are awesome. I have not had a bad one yet and I tried chicken and beef fajitas, al pastor chille relleno. The ingredients are fresh. The sauce is off the hook. Best part of it I think. I always ask for extra. Have not tried other things on the menu xcept burritos but they rock

Not only was the food prepared extremely quickly, this food blew my mind. I was expecting a so-so average Mexican restaurant, but in return I had probably the best California burrito I've ever had. Their homemade mexican sauce with the whole hearted fries and carne asada was cooked to perfection. Well done, I will most definitely come back.

The place doesn't look like much from the outside (or the inside), but it's the food that counts. And I have to say, this is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've tried in San Diego. And I mean it. Big portions of well cooked, chunky meals without the paste puree flavor of some other places. And all this for cheap prices. I can't say enough good things about the food; you really gotta try it. I keep going back despite having to walk several blocks. Don't get fooled by the appearance; Benny's is quality stuff.

The best cheap mexican food you can find in the South Park area. Their burritos are huge and full of authentic mexican flavors. The vegetarian burrito is loaded with REAL guacamole and the carne asada burritos have plenty of beef. Chips are also tasty. The real deal at a stellar price.
