Love the deep dish pizza here! The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is casual. I order the veggie deep dish and it was excellent. I will definitely come back.

We had Pepperoni and Spinach/Mushroom. Both excellent. But this pizza is different...tomatoes on top so you don't see all the fixin's underneath. Visited with the owners; real butter on the bottom of the pan, yeast crust is thin, made with just a little olive oil. They are particular about cheese, using only one "really dense" cheese from Wisconsin, and it was very good, enough but not too much. Spinach and mushroom a little "wet" but good flavor. Currently 12 beers on tap but room for many more. Recycled Torrey Pines lumber used on the wall (UCSD harvests downed trees and cuts it up--they got it for a song). Parking in North Park is a pain, but that's only because we are old people. Most folks don't care if they have to walk a bit. However, they have a 3-minute parking space right in front if you call ahead to pick up, and they do deliver, but area is limited. Bottled water; soda in cans. All right; truth in advertising, I'm the owner's great-aunt. But we had a happy time with you, Angie and Danny, and loved your pizza.

I tried to locate Berkeley pizza on 30st ave, was not able to find. But anyway, I'm reviewing the one on 30st. Chicago style deep dish pizza. Loved pesto sauce with garlic. I'd love it more if the garlic was little bit more minced as the one I got had garlic chunks. The place is really nice, small, but clean.

I'm excited that Berkeley Pizza has opened up a spot in North Park (on 30th) and though I've yet to make it to their new location, I was able to visit the downtown joint. I sampled three different slices: the garlic and pesto, the pepperoni, and the spinach and mushroom. Of the three, the spinach and mushroom was my favorite and I later learned it's their specialty. The flavors are a good balance and I love the crust.

It's not quite Chicago deep-dish style, but it echos that more than the NY thin style slice. The pizza is hearty and delicious, the place is casual and cool. I heard that it's run by three brothers, which is a lot of fun and I think they chose well when selecting a second spot. If they supplied honey to dip the crust, that'd be the best.
