This was divine. The service and the food were impeccable. We were in a party of 5 and arrived a bit early, so we sat at the bar and had some amazing cocktails. I would highly recommend the Thai Gimlet. Delicious. We were seated promptly at our reservation time, we were taken very good care of. I was wearing a black dress, they asked if I would prefer a black napkin to a white one so I wouldn't get white lint on my dress, and when I went to the bathroom between courses, I returned to my seat to find a fresh napkin folded and waiting for me. I was with one friend in particular, a French man, who was as impressed as I with the food. I had the lobster strudel and the beef duo... fantastic. We shared a couple of the desserts, which were also good. My friends, who loved their food also, ate lobster bisque, beet salad, the duck breast, rack of lamb, king salmon and the scallops. The only complaint was from my friend who had the scallops, she would like for there to have been more. The quality of food for the price is exceptional and really, there aren't that many restaurants in San Diego that offer food and service at this level. After dinner, we were invited to hang out on the patio as long as we liked to watch the planes land and see the city at it's best angle, from above. Worth every penny.

Great pizza tour with a great tour guide. I was surprised at how much we actually learned about pizza.
We were a family of 5 with older teens an this was a perfect tour. Scott is a great guy and won't disappoint. We did the Greenwich village tour that made 3 stops.

Worst place ever, will not go back. I emailed this review twice over 2 months to the 2 different email address on the Mr A's website and got NO REPLY. If they cannot get back to their customers and make things right, they should not be in business.

"My fiance and I live in San Diego and had our first date at Mr. A's 2 1/2 years ago. Yesterday we went back and got engaged at the restaurant where our relationship started; Only to be horribly sick after leaving and quite disappointed as that will be how we remember our engagement (memorable at the least). We like to go to Mr. A's regularly because up until now it has been a treat to remember our first date and we enjoy our service and meals. This time, March 23rd, 2015 between 5:30 and 6:30pm we were sorely disappointed. We had three appetizers: Truffle fries (always a favorite), Mussels (very greasy and flavorless) and Vegetable Tempura (Cold and most of the Tempura was not on the vegetables). We did not expect the Mussels to be so greasy and salty, we couldn't even taste a mussel. I am not sure if any of that was the culprit of our sickness afterwards, as it could have been the disappointing dipping sauce for the tempura, not a typical delicious light japanese sauce but one that could spoil and have been out too long. We each had one drink in which we did not taste much alcohol at all, for how much the drinks are I would expect a better bartender, at least a shot would be nice. We did not even get to having dinner as both of us felt a bit sick. We left after our appetizers and we both found ourselves food poisoned, not even able to make it home to the bathroom. I felt compelled to express this as Mr. A's is one of our favorite restaurants and I would hate for you not to know what is happening in your restaurant as most people would have just said we won't come back and you would not know why. My stomach is still turning even today.

I totally love this place! It is very pricey but definitely worth the money. You can go outside to the patio and check out the amazing San Diego skyline.

My favorite appetizer is the pork belly with lentil salad. The lobster bisque is to die for. Definitely save room for dessert... these are my favorite part!

Bertrand Hug's "elegant" French-American perched on the 12th floor of an office building in Bankers Hill is a classic" spot to take visitors or celebrate a special occasion thanks to the "spectacular" bay and skyline views – particularly from the outdoor terrace; the "excellent" French-inflected fare is ferried by "polished", attentive staffers, and though bills are "expensive", it's "worth it for a special day."
