Went there with 5 colleagues for lunch. The food was good but the service was bad. The waiter was not attentive enough to realize we were out of tea. We asked him for more but he didn't bring any. When it was time to pay, the waiter refused to split the check evenly among six credit cards. He said four was the maximum. (We should have asked for separate checks at the beginning.) They added 18% gratuity because we were a large party. We didn't want to pay the whole gratuity because of the poor service. He said it wasn't optional but we held our ground. If they had agreed to split the check among six credit cards, they would have gotten their tip. Instead, they lost six customers.

Good food. A bit pricy. A bit too much smoke from the kitchen.

This is definitely one of the better Thai food options in downtown - albeit this isn't an area really known for Thai food.

They start everyone off with a little appetizer - a cup of soup that varies by day, a little salad, and a small bite (sometimes an egg roll, sometimes a tofu stick, sometimes a chicken wing...). The best soup is on Fridays, but they're mostly all good.

I used to love getting the Thai coffee here, but it's been very disappointing the last few times I've been. The Thai tea is more consistent (though also a disappointment sometimes). If you're feeling lucky, give it a shot. Otherwise, stick to sometimes safer as a drink.

Another couple heads up: Mango Tree can get very busy at lunch. Be ready for a wait. Also, the place gets very smokey, so accept the fact that you will smell like Thai food after you leave.

Enjoy!

This place changes the name from Bangkok Chef late of 2015. They change the menu as well but the chef and the service staff are the same. The quality remains similar despite the dish change.

It's the best Thai food place in downtown. Super busy during lunch. It is better to order to go and sit in the chairs in the corridor in the back then to wait in line next to the kitchen full of smoke. The chef is quick. This will turn out to be faster so you can finish your lunch in time.

The food is tasty. The portion is good. You get some soup on your to go as well. The curry is flavorful without being too hot. The sauce is just right. Not too thick. The fry rice is good as well. Rice is cooked and soft. Enough sauce and the meat is flavorful with just enough chewiness leave you wanting the next bite.

This place has the best Thai food in Houston,. They also have great prices and a friendly staff. The curries and fried rice are fantastic. Huge portion sizes too. You will not leave hungry!
