We had a very weird experience here. I wouldn't go back or recommend it. Very disappointing. We went because of the great reviews and it was close to Symphony Hall-- yesterday 12/21/11 for 2pm lunch before 4pm Pops performance. The asian food was just ok--too much sauce, didn't seem fresh. The sandwich was good. The waitress was nice, but kind of distracted. They weren't busy at all. We got dinner and lunch menus and she said we get free drinks (coffee, soda) with lunch. 4 of 5 ordered from lunch menu, but she didn't ask us if we wanted anything to drink. (I didn't check the bill, so I have no idea if we paid lunch or dinner prices --same items on both menus-- or if she charged for drinks) We orderd a couple coffees, but weren't offered refills. When we asked for refills she said something like she was out of coffee. Not sure what her point was..., then that she"d have to brew a new pot...then it took so long that I wondered if she really meant they were Out and someone went to buy some. It was kind of weak, so maybe they reused grounds? We ordered 5 desserts. She came back in a few minutes to say they were out of one dessert (3 orders). We changed to Banana bombs (or something). Those come with coconut ice cream, but she served them to us without even telling us they were also out of that---just served them with vanillia. The Chocolate Mousse cake was good, but the banana things weren't fresh and they were barely warm. We didn't complain--but questioned lack of coconut ice cream. She commented about how busy they were the night before, ---? don't they get and make their food fresh every day? Anyway, they nicely took off $20 from the bill. Oh--and they added 18% gratuity(On original amount) to the bill for 5 people. Odd again.... I don't understand how this place has such good ratings. We joked that they need the Hell's Kitchen guy to come shape them up. We didn't get sick, so that is important. Again, I don't get it at all, just not what I expected from all the great reviews.(Are they real reviews?) After researching I can't find the Rachel Ray review that they advertise.

Great experience, we had a large group of about 14 people and they were able to accommodate us with no problem. The music created an easy atmosphere to talk and relax in. The staff was very friendly and we were able to joke with them openly.

Betty's is a funky place that's part 50s diner, part modern Asian fusion and all fun! Nothing traditional here but certainly an experience to remember!

While the service was friendly and helpful (if not quick; dinner lasted two hours), the food was not worth the price. The sake-inspired cocktails, however, were interesting and tasty. I would recommend this place for the drinks, but for well-priced noodles consider alternatives.
