Here are some reasons why you should choose Big Shucks for dinner:
1. You love long lines and >1hr wait time before you get your food.
2. You adore crowded places full of people who have no concept about appropriate levels of noise or the idea of taking screaming babies/toddlers/hangry adults out to walk around so as not to disturb fellow customers.
3. You very much enjoy over-spiced or exceedingly bland food with exactly zero room in the middle.

We went to Big Shucks on Mockingbird tonight for dinner and I believe, with burning lips, we will be kissing this establishment goodbye. After explicitly ordering "Steamed crab, no red pepper please" and an order of fried catfish, we received the catfish 15 minutes before the first round of "attempts" at the crab order. After alerting the people behind the counter about the crab mistake, they took the tray behind the curtain, said their magic words and returned a seemingly new tray of food. Alas, like the Wizard of Oz, their words had no real effect and they simply had returned our original order. After alerting them again of the mistake, they told us there was no way of making the dish like we ordered. Amusing especially because this request has been easily honored before. What is truly amazing is that the few bites of crab we were able taste through the trigeminal onslaught of capsaicin fire were delicious. It's a shame the rest of the crab went up like so much smoke into the cayenne over spiced fire.

Oh, and the catfish could've easily been cardboard and nobody would've been able to tell the difference.

This place used to be a family favorite of ours, but unfortunately, I believe this is the last venture we will make into the ruins of a once great establishment.

I've been everywhere and besides the coast you can't find a better place for seafood in Dallas. I've been going to Aw Shucks on Greenville Ave. since I was a kid but when they opened this one... this location became my favorite solely because the parking was 10 times bigger than Aw shucks. Now my kids come here and I hope they'll be here for future generations.
Thanks guys

I ordered the Hot and Spicy shrimp it was hot but not very spicy. The shrimp are a nice size and tasted good but the price was high for just a pound of shrimp.

Great service, even with the massive lines. Not a big fan of boiling seafood in plain water, then sprinkling powder seasoning on the shells tho. But kudos for having some large & juicy crawfish.
