Great atmosphere. Artsy and comfortable. Great place to buy fine art as well I found out.

Wonderful service. Very attentive. Excellent food. Everything on the menu is great and the specialties provide additional options if you are familiar with the menu. We go here often for the great food.

One of the best meals of my life. The waiter really knows his wine pairings and the Gulas is absolutely spectacular. Very good service, too.

"When being honest, you just gotta risk upsetting people" - Me?

So the lady friend loves this place. I, on the other hand, think it's trying to hard.

Why do i dislike it? Well, unless you're eating outside where all the car traffic passes by and is loud, then you're inside in the awful house/trance/dance music that is turned up far too loud to enjoy great conversation with people. If they turned that down about 3/4 of what it's at, it would be great ambience...if it were not house/trance/dance. Given the music...the ambient lighting is nice on the front side! The back is a little...darkish.

The food is "ok" at best. I've never been blown away here. Now, I am a different eater than most, but that doesn't come into factor here. There's plenty of meaty/veggie rich dishes here, but the execution is just a little off point.

The drinks are a little weak for the price you're paying (i know it's DC, but come on).

Overall, the noisy environment, the pricy food that fails to execute, and the weak drinks make this place a spot I tend to actively avoid. Go next door to Shaw's Tavern for far better food and atmosphere.

I'd never gotten into chicken+waffles before... it's a taste & texture combination my body just is not fond of. But... chicken schnitzel and waffles? I may still eat them separately (much to the chagrin of any Southern companions), but I dearly love each of those so very much. The schnitzel, in general, is excellent. I'm biased toward brunch as that's when I usually visit, but their non-brunch food has consistently been amazing.

Shaw millennials find a delightful taste of Prague – think pierogi and schnitzel, plus beer and absinthe – at this cozy Central European eatery with an indie vibe; after dark, the art nouveau setting feels like a scene from an arty movie, while by day its coffee-shop annex offers delicious, strong brews.
