08/25/2010 10:17 amThe owner buys the lowest grades of "no-roll" meats to save a few bucks, and despite what they tell you, 90% of their vegetables do not come from their garden. The only reason they haven't been shut down by health inspectors is because the chef is a personal friend of one. It's a nasty place...the dining room smells of wet dog and mold. |

11/19/2009 6:14 pmWonderful food, intimate atmosphere, caring but not over-bearing waitstaff. Though some options could get pricey, the prix fixe menu, available before 6:30 pm, is an absolute bargain - 3 courses for $25. Highly recommended! |

01/17/2009 4:46 pmFirst off I noticed there was one good review about a year ago, and none before that since 2006. We had dinner there on Friday, not for a special event, we just enjoy places with good food and service, we thought this may be one. We found that both were bad at Bistro Sophia. We started off by ordereing a bottle of wine, to which the waitress suggested something 'better'. She returned with our original order since they were out of the better one. Bread came a half hour after our arrival, the butter came about 15 minutes later, when we were finished with the bread. I can say we enjoyed the appetizers. The dinner arrived about an hour after we ordered it- the plates were scallops and a butternut squash lasagna. The scallops were not tasty at all, the lasagna arrived with rubbery top and the bottom layer I couldn't cut through! The wine was good, even though we had to pour it ourselves, the waitress never did, even with an empty glass in front of her. I do feel the place is very quaint and lovely, but the substance within it is extremely lacking. |
