Haven't eaten at 'The Pea' in FOREVER. On a whim, dropped in today and was delighted.

The hostess was very nice and seared us right away. Our server was the nicest server we've had in a long time (wish I had gotten her name).

We both enjoyed our lunches (baked Atlantic Whitefish and a Vegetable Plate - both with double okra) and were particularly impressed at how well the staff treated all the patrons; greeting them, calling them by name.

Overall, a really great experience.

I don't often go out to eat all by myself, but I enjoyed the personable atmosphere at the Black-Eyed Pea today. Since it was my first visit to this establishment, I asked for a recommendation and the Louisiana catfish was the perfect suggestion in my opinion. With a side order of red beans and rice, black-eyed peas, and coleslaw I had a complete and dinner that I will remember as the tasty treat in Houston. The service was patient, on my level, and quick. The corn bread and honey as starters was a nice touch. I would enthusiastically recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a good meal at a low cost. I haven't eaten a meal this good for the price since I enjoyed the cajun cooking in New Orleans twenty some years ago.

Wow,I have achieved comfort food Nirvana. Everything was awesome. Pot roast, fried chicken, fries, okra, unlimited rolls, banana pudding - grand slam. The poor waitress had the entire restaurant to herself and still gave better service than I get half the time at other places. They would have the final star if they weren't short handed.

Not as great as it used to be. Chicken fried chicken was decent, the bread pudding sucked. It was like they threw French toast and carmel together and called it bread pudding.
