The Branzino fish was great. Just found it to be oddly paired with a very salty/spicy/flavorful olive salad that overpowered the delicate fish. The broccoli was also not well washed and a bit sandy. Very friendly and helpful waitress.

A fine dining restaurant centrally located in downtown San Diego. I would give
a rating of five stars outstanding reviews, and highly recommended.

Yeah, I'm sorry to say but I was kind of disappointed in this place. The sample of tuna tartar was wonderful, and the bread the brought out before the meal was also wonderful, but those were probably the only 5 star items brought out. As for my dish (I go the ono), it was nice, but nothing all that special... My friend got a soup that I tasted that was also nice, but again, nothing memorable.

I would have given it a 4 star rating, but I'm taking off an entire star for the fact that my side dish consisted of previously FROZEN GREEN BEANS. Frozen! There is no excuse for this. Not only do I find frozen veggies to be rather nasty, but for $32/plate I expect my side dish to be a nice highlight of my meal and not a major detraction (not to mention an eye-sore, all puffy and sick green colored). It's insulting! Even at cheap chain restaurants you can get fresh veggies.

Well, that's it. Overall, I don't recommend this place. Not for that price anyway. There were several other (similarly priced) wonderful places in San Diego with much better food.

Best meal I've ever had!! I've never been a fish lover, but after moving to San Diego from Chicago I made it my goal to give fish and sea food another chance. I came to Blue Point because of their extensive gluten free offerings. My first course was the lobster bisque. This was definitely the best soup I've had in my entire life. I thought about ordering a second bowl - seriously. My main entree was the special for the night which was a halibut served over potato risotto with some vegetables (normally served with a crab crust, but that's not gluten free). Not being a fish lover (or even liker) I was apprehensive, but couldn't have been more impressed. The amount of fish was double what I could eat (and I'm a big eater). The fish didn't taste fishy at all and was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The risotto and vegetables were delicious as well. I finished my meal with a chocolate lava cake (yes, gluten free) and vanilla ice cream. The lava cake was very very sweet, but so good. The prices are high, but not extraordinary - and definitely well worth it. Presentation and service were excellent as well. They also have quite an extensive mixed drink, wine and beer list. I will be back!
